So, I want a new jacket this fall. As an engineer, I tend to be a planner and am starting to look around now.

Since I am a fat boy... No one seems to have something in stock that will fit me. Not my dealer, not Cycle Gear.

So Guys, which jacket maker tends to have the larger sizes? Dianese? Alpinestars? Who?

I have a textile Joe Rocket jacket that fits really good. But I want a leather jacket for when it gets colder in November.

Looking for suggestions.

Thanks.

I would advise to play safe and buy a quality jacket than you can wear for years to come. Dainese Racing D1 Pelle Jacket is probably one of the best jackets available today in the market.

An excellent alternative would be the Alpinestars Atem Jacket. Maybe a little higher in terms of protection and price, but depends on the budget.

If you want a high quality jacket, I would advise to choose from these two brands as they are definitely the best in the market.

Based on what you said, In Dainese you will need between a size 62-64.

Most companies only offer through size 58 or 60, I would call up Dainese directly and ask them. Keep in mind they may charge you more. It is alot easier to loose weight. The jacket I bought roughly a month ago is almost too large for me now. Hit the weights hard, drink plenty of water and eat plenty of protein. Consult with a doctor if you have any prior medical conditions. I hope this helps.

I really want an Alpinestars as I have always used their gloves. But I have never been able to find one that will fit me. They seem to be designed for skinny Europeans only.

I have lost 13 pounds in 5 weeks doing a lot of this. However, that won't help my chest and shoulders. In fact, the more I hit the gym, the thicker my shoulders will get. I have been there. So, it is a catch 22.

Whatever you decide, please go full racing leathers with back protector. My little brother crashed in street gear on April 12th, spent 10 days in intensive care because of ...... street gear. A 50$ back protector would have prevented a spinal injury with permanent damage.

BTW, it was a 50 mph lowside....

Sorry to hear about your brother.

To the OP, Call Pilot leathers up and check with them. Really good people and gear; they should be able to help you out. I forgot to mention them.

You should call Audrey Menarik at MotoLiberty in Dallas Texas. Audrey will work with you patiently. She is a Dainese and RS Taichi dealer. Huge in stock showroom. Audrey has great prices and she will get you a custom made RS Taichi jacket or Dainese if that's what you need. Audrey is instrumental in getting various pro racers in America sponsored by RS Taichi. My point is, Audrey is well connected and she will take good care of you and give you great advice on fitment while being super patient. Also, the staff at MotoLiberty is super nice. You don't get that punk behind the counter with the "cool hip attitude." Audrey will ship jackets back and forth to you until you find the right one. What's really nice: Audrey is the owner of this huge store and she will personally work with you like you're more than just a regular customer.

There are many good suppliers out there. But european suppliers like champion helmets are always cheaper simply because they don't have tax so that's a guaranteed 21% disocunt plus the discount they give on top of that. You will have to accept the 12 days delivery time though

Moto Liberty Connection. One of MANY!!! ;)

^there you go, I have also heard great things about MotoLiberty.

I believe I was the one who told you about them in your thread that I "insulted" you in correct Grayson? ;)

Wow, thank you all.

Think I will definately call MotoLiberty. Would love to get a custom dianese jacket made.

Steve-
If you haven't pulled the trigger on anything yet or contacted Moto Liberty, send me a PM and I will personally get you set up and referred w the main man (actually it's a female owner) who will for sure take good care of you on anything you want from them. For those who didn't know, she is the provider and fitment Queen for Josh Hayes and his own personal choice to go with RS TAICHI Leathers this year.

IMHO, and I'm sure many others here who I informed about this jacket, the RS TAICHI GMX MOTION is by far the best jacket I have owned in decades! In summer (with the proper under shirt- another whole topic in itself) this jacket literally feels like having a mobile AC unit on due to its unreal air flow thru the perforations! It fits awesome (if you get correct size!) And is VERY comfortable to wear for long periods of time! They even have a model with the infamous inflatable collar and other vital areas too! (Check out links)

So if you'd like a little hook up there on anything shoot me a PM and we'll get you set up brother! Actually that goes for anyone who's interested. I just like to remain respectful to those vendors here on the site, that's all. :)

Semper Fi......

The Mrs. said I need to wait until Sep to buy my new Jacket and helmet.

Our July NY trip will cost ~$6k for us + 3 kids. Then we have all of the back to school purchases in Aug.

So, my Jacket and Helmet purchase will have to wait...
