Did they put the nail in so that you wouldn't be able to ride it and have to leave it there. They could then come back and steal it their leisure when nobody is around. Would explain why they put the nail in and why its in a place where you're certain to see it. I'd be careful, someone might have designs on your bike.

Agreed. +1

Not to bag on you in particular but I am shocked at the number of people who buy bikes and do not have a safe place to park them. It impacts us all becasue bike theft is rampant and it causes all of our insurance rates to increase.

Concerning the warning from PaddockStand. He makes a valid point. When you chain the bike make sure to run through through more than the rear wheel. Also make sure to lock the steering column. Maybe it is just bad luck but often times bad luck runs in streaks. Tomorrow you could find more missing than just air.

That said, congrats and hope you enjoy the bike.

I you for real :eek::eek:

I might take the old tire with me , plug it and sell it on ebay for people with kamikaze habits ;)

If you are having problems like this I would just leave the bike at home and drive the car to work. Better safe than sorry. Plus you dont want the bike being messed with birds, people walking by wanting to sit on it or touch it, or even getting the paint roosted out in the sun.

well the paint could use some UV rays i guess, to harden... ;-)

the '75 mercedes 230 can be left in the parking lot with doors unlocked, indeed.

for the 12 miles it's really not worth to warm up the engine. and it's not much faster with changing clothes etc. .

the commute at my last job was 45-50 minutes with the car and (record) 17 minutes with the bike. but that was in germany and not in the US. :eek:

the garage at home is safe, with a trained boxer (dog) adequate shooting skills an alarm system and 2 cops in the street.

work- different story

dude, that ´s a shame.

And it it just a base. What would they do to a tricolore?!

currently i am in the position, not to ride to work any more. our company is orientated in operating with low investments in whatever we do (to keep cash flow), so the area where we are located, which was chosen several years ago, states that. the first guys who worked there, got paid for a handgun to keep in their desks :eek:

no matter of a base or a tric, flat tire is flat tire and stolen bike is stolen bike. (knock on wood !!!)
