...on Base ABS at Munroe in San Francisco.

Had check in hand, ready to sign on dotted line, but they wouldn't budge on cost of freight and setup. They wanted $799 for each ($1598 total).

Was hoping that they could come down by $500, but GM said that he couldn't.

Tried calling their bluff, but it turns out they might not have been bluffing.

'Tis a shame, better luck next time...

Check another dealer, Setup and Freight should be considered cost of putting product on the shelf. They should include that on the MSRP or none at all.

It's like airlines charging you for fuel, that's ......... But it happens.

That's the most expensive freight, setup I've seen. A dealer in Denver charged $600 for both, another $900.

Guess they had another buyer, that's an obscene charge. As far as I know, unless it's changed, the manuf. actually pays the dealer to setup the bike.

A month or two you'll be able to get a better deal, these aren't limited production bikes by any means.

Just find the closest dealer to you that doesn't charge all that crap. There's a thread on here that talks about poeples out the door prices. Check that to find a dealer that charges 0 BS fees. I'll start you off , then you can start looking for one a little closer to you. LOL ! You could always fly somewhere , and then ride it home ! Melillimoto in Ocala, FL. Zero made-up fees. Good Luck ! And congratulations for having the will power to stand up and say " I'm not paying that crap ! " .

You did the right thing.

That's complete BS.

Like 2012DUCATI1199 mentioned we paid zero on freight and setup.

That's crazy.. There's PLENTY of dealers with bikes that WILL work with you!!!!
You did the right thing.. TELL THEM TO POUND SAND!!!!

What was your OTD price 2012DUC?

I got a Base without ABS. And paid $19.278.20. I'm at work right now , but I'm almost positive that's what I paid. I put $5K down and financed the balance at 5.9 APR for 60 months. Payment is $275.00 a month.

Shop around, I've gotten prices over the phone!!! I couldn't believe I got quotes without entering the dealer. I will travel 4 hours by car each way to save $1800 bucks.

I know there are several dealers in CA advertising they are available with no waiting. Give it some time my guess is they will be calling you back soon.

Don't feel bad about walking out. Last I checked the 1199 was not a one of a kind item. Shop around until you find the dealer you like!

Motor cafe and Hattar have bikes on the floor. The issue with the bay is that there are always buyers. If you don't mind looking outside, you can score a better deal.
I ended up buying from Hattar for almost the same price as what you said, but this was more than a month ago and no dealers had bikes available unless you had put a deposit down. Things have changed now, so you could bargain.

Thanks! You guys are awesome!

The interwebs never cease to amaze me.

I'm not giving up, just have to be a bit more patient!

Cheers,

Exactly be patient. Dealers try to make it seem like they are the only ones on the planet who sell the bike you want. Total BS. Tons of dealers out there who will work with you.
