In my opinion the worst thing they did was create the race-only "R" version of the bike and introduce it first. There is a constant misunderstanding of the bike on the internet.

Having said that, I think the entire hype of the bike is misguided. I own a Kawasaki, but I think the bike is a big mistake. They should have put the supercharged technology on a special edition ZX14 - a bike that is all about straight line speed from the get-go.
 
Awww, gotcha. Don't have as much of a presence out here where I am. How do the new V02's feel/compare with the latest from Pirelli and Dunlop? I've wanted to know this for a while actually.

The V02's are great for racing or very fast track day riding. The front has a very stiff carcass and requires load to get it to flex and heat up, so it's not a tire for a newbie or for just putting around or you won't have as much grip. The wear life is at least double of the older slicks, I ran a V02 front mid-season this year and I finally took it off and replaced it after 7 track days just because I couldn't mentally keep it on there any longer even though it still looked new. The wear is unreal. The rear only comes in a 200 profile, so I can't run it on my 899, but we had lots of other guys racing on them and the rear wear was very good also. One of our quicker racers dropped almost 2 full seconds on the V02's. I think for general track day use, the V01's are going to provide more feedback and confidence for most people. If you're fast, and you want to go even faster, then the V02's are worth a try.
 
well the person who buy these bikes should not worry about if there is warranty or not, his extra money is the warranty.

I would not have bought the SL if it didn't come with a warranty. It's not about whether you have the money, it is about the value proposition.
 
I still don't see how you can compare the SL to the H2R in terms of warranty. If you purchase an SL to convert to a track only race bike (even if you only race it once), you will void the warranty. The H2R is coming from the factory as a track only bike, so there's already no warranty. If the H2R was being sold as street legal, it would have a warranty just like the SL.

I'm not buying an H2 anything, but I don't see anything abnormal about the H2R not having a warranty and it has 3k service intervals. Every time it's ridden it's supposed to be in an environment where it can be ridden very hard, not like a road bike that will cruise the street for the majority if not all of it's miles.

IMO it makes sense to be sold without warranty!

It's a track only bike!

No manufacturer in his perfect mind will warrant a track bike! If they had to warrant that, it would cost 5 times more, for warranty risk!
 
they can try to sell this with or without warranty whatever the f they wanna do but this bike is str8 up trash and they will prolly sell this to a few collectors for garage queen and you will never see on track anyways.

It's just not warranty when it kabooms. Momo's are going to be playing with tunes, adding water or methanol injection and doing all kinds of terrible things to this bike.

It doesn't have an intercooler. IIRC, it relies on weird fuel injection to help cool the intake charge. They're pushing limits on this one.

CBR600's have a fine warranty. :p

Not surprising for a track/race only bike. I don't know any manufacturer that warrants a bike intended as race only.

Ask anyone who's raced a purpose-built 2-stroke (RS250R, TZ250R, etc.) and they'll tell you that the $16k+ price tag they had gets you only a tail light warranty. Oh, and service intervals every 150 miles (new pistons), 750 miles (new cylinders), and 1000 miles (new crank).

This H2R isn't any different. Better be serious about tracking/racing or get back on the porch.

You are right about that. I had TZR250s which were the street bike model, as well as the real McCoy TZ250s (W AND B models). Upkeep as race bikes was steep on the TZRs, it was near insane on the TZs as cranks, cylinders and especially pistons/rings were normal wear items...and they wore out fast!! Those machines (the TZR was never meant for the U.S., and the TZ had no warranty) were a known commodity. The H2R is "clean sheet fresh", and no one knows how they will fare or what will break/wear out. This could be an expensive learning curve.
 
I still don't think we'll actually see any of those H2R's on a track. I think it was an engineering exercise, and the production bike is going to be the piggly H2 which every one will get an extended swingarm on and be at the drag strip.

I will have to agree with Jarel on this. I switch to V02s for the last three track days. At my home track, I ran my fastest laps times I went fro running 25s, to my best lap of 23s. Now, Jennings is very abrasive and I was able to ruin a rear tire in a day in a half. great tire.
 
There are videos showing a Monster 696 going around the track that look just as impressive. Manufacturer promo vids are always impressive, how about actual verified lap times?

We'll have to wait until the bike is released or the mags get a hold of one. It wont shock me if it's quicker than some people are expecting simply based on the weight.
