I didn’t even bother looking at lap times while I was there, too much to learn to look at lap times for now, next outing I will though.

kinda curious what you guys run there.

my Neighbor runs low 1:40’s, our buddy Thomas does 1:31’s….I’m told that’s fast lol

The low 1:30s are what the local racers usually run. A very general rule of thumb is Group A is 1:30s, Group B 1:40s, Group C 1:50s, and should probably be in a new rider school for anything over 2:00.

Jeff gave me some good advice before and after the bike lost the blip shifter and all the electronic Nannie’s. (Gear indicator broke on the first lap after the 2 sighting laps.)

he said not to try and go fast, just pick one thing to work on each session, two of the sessions I had to learn how to clutch shift the thing without losing the rear end on downshifts or wheeling to to the moon on hard upshifts.

after that I just cruised the straights and let everyone pass so I could focus on setting up fir the corner and getting my body position and throttle control right….next time I think I’ll be faster.

I didn’t know they offered a class group or I would have signed up for that.

I only had one Lap where I felt good enough on the bike to push it a bit all the way around abs that was a very slow 1:51

Fastrack Riders has a New Rider School that basically works like a Group C+. They get out on track before everyone else and stay out with group C throughout the day. You wear a jersey and one of their coaches shadows/has you shadow throughout the day. My experience at Fontana is limited because I only got to do part of a session before my thermostat manifold decided to exit the chat, unfortunately. Would have preferred just the GPS crapping out

what tracks do you usually run in SoCal?

I've had a hard time fitting track days into my schedule. I've only been to Fontana and Chuckwalla a handful of times.

thats a shame because your bike is a track weapon.

but I also feel your pain, the good news for me is that we met some cool neighbors and my wife became besties with the wife, and he tracks nearly every weekend, so now I don’t get the stink eye from the wife if I tell her I’m going to be gone for one of the days I’m home that week to go to the track
