Hey all!!

New here and just picked up a 2017 959...

The screen is damaged on the bike and I want to replace it. My question is, if i get a new screen, is there anything more to do besides a plug and play action? Does it get all of its info from the ECU or is it like some cars where it has an internal module the stores mileage, VIN identification, or any other settings that may need to be programmed??

Also, I was basically looking on Ebay, but if anyone here is in the US and has a screen available, I am open to discussion.

Thanks all!!

It's certainly a replaceable part. The VIN is written to a few of the controllers on the bike, the dash being one of them. Same for the mileage. With the dealer took you can re-write the mileage, but it will only write the highest mileage on any of the components that records it to all of the others. So if your replacement dash has more mileage, that will be what is written to all of them. The only other potential consideration is differences in software versions. I don't think there'd be too much of an issue as long as the replacement came from the same year and same region (ie North America) as your bike. The further you get from that the more potential there would be for issues.
