Hey Guys,

Went for a long ride yesterday and noticed that the lid of the brake master cylinder is leaking. A drip went on to the dash and has marked the plastic. It all seems tight, but it still leaks. Has anyone else had this issue and would I be right to try and make a warranty claim for it?

Cheers

Yes I just got done with this issue as well as the MC and ABS.. Warranty that .... now before you get it all over your paint and track suit lol

yep, warranty claim a few of months ago, got a new screen and reservoir...Ducati told them to polish the dash...

Buy a sock for the reservoir is my advice even if you get a replacement. I remove my lid and dry it out every month or so, even with the new one...

Thanks Guys, I'll get on to it. Engine, Forks and now this.... Ducati AU must be wishing my bike was never sold here lol!

Same thing happened to mine. I took the bike to the track right after break in and got brake fluid splattered all over my display and inner windscreen.

Luckily, I was able to clean the dash before it damaged the plastic but my stock windscreen now has white dots that won't come off.

To do those who have had it warranted, did they just replace the damaged items or did they re-enforce everything?

I ended putting a set of reservoir socks, went with a ZG Corsa screen and haven't had any splattering.

This happened to me as well but I couldn't figure out where the hell it was coming from. Cleaned the lids up and went with socks also and haven't seen it since

Was at the track this week and my master cylinder started dripping/splattering as well - nice job on instrument panel and area, windscreen, tank top. Water treated in time for the most part.
2013 with 4000 miles and past warranty.
Any recommendations for a good quality aftermarket unit?

sounds like rubbers deforming due to heat or manufacturing warped units. I do use socks but have had no leaking reservoirs, maybe because of the socks. Weird. The reservoirs are not expensive at all to replace. I would make sure the rubber diaphragm in the reservoir are in there properly to create a seal.

you might try running a lower level of brake fluid in the reservoirs. The fluid expands when it warms up, and if it's topped off, there's nowhere to go, except out the seals on the lid.
