i ended up goin with a different option being that australia laws will try to bite me for this mod.

you can find this mod on youtube..

mod being simply DIY i think
i did half the research
this mod is about $100 at most with time.
my bike is half carbon.. it be hard to do this mod on carbon guard. and 1 mistake will make it costly.. i dont know if the States have different road rules but i have notice you guys have alot more freedom to mod bikes..

like you i'm also in Australia, still would like to give this a try.
might see if i can get a second hand one and give it a go. do you know if the led are cut into the plastic or just glue on?
 
led come in strips

measure distance you want
there is a brand which is the best.. i cant remember but do some seaching..
its cut in to make a nice smooth look.
the rest is simple

splice wire and join
