Marchesini Magnesium wheels safe to use for street use? Any feedback appreciated thanks.

It is not meant to be for the street, it is for general track use. Some will disagree and will say it is all fine to use on the street but the ''engineering'' behind it is for track use. For the street you really have to look after it and make sure you do not hit any pot holes or have any major scratches on it because it will corrode and once it corrodes you are in trouble.

Go for forged Aluminium ones, they are not as light as Magnesium wheels but are a lot more safer and reliable for road use.

Sure they would. Not like they're brittle lol I mean if you go over some really harsh potholes consistently, it might do some kinda damage but I'm sure no one would intentionally put their suspension and wheels through such harsh conditions. If you ride like the majority of us do (avoiding as many bumps n potholes as possible) then I don't see why you couldn't use them for every day riding.

I ride only on tracks and I still use aluminum rims or Mags. Reason being, low maintenance, price, and if your good enough to feel the difference between the two types I want your autograph cause your a Moto GP God!

For the money if you really need aftermarket rims go BST CF rims, but I feel OZ racing rims are the way to go. With the money saved, you can buy lighter Superbike rotors and a 520 conversion kit and you will save more weight and look prettier the goals of every ducatist...lol.

AFAIK, Marchesini makes a lot of different wheels. If the wheels are road-certified, i.e. JWL-, DOT-, TUV-approved, then they can be used on the road.

I know OZ makes some Cattiva magnesium wheels for the 1199 that are road-certified, but the Cattiva R magnesium rear wheel is for track-use only.

I had forged mags on my 996 for a couple years on the street with no issue. At the time, none of the marchesini mags were dot road approved so it's a ride at your own risk, that may have changed and they may have DOT wheels.

I'd probably just opt for forged aluminum dot wheels if I had it to do over again. Any time I hit a pothole I always worried I'd tear up the wheel.

I've used magnesium on the street for years with no issues. That being said, as I get older and wiser, I'd just as soon save the money and go for aluminum. The difference is not really worth the price if you are riding on the street.

Mags are fine, the corrosion myth is BS - they are very light, beautiful, and at $2200 - the best bargain for the appearance/weight savings.

Once you register and login, the price is discounted to 2164 euros. I guess it went up a bit from a year ago. That's $2940 US, I and others back then paid $2200 US, and I sold my base wheels for $1000 - so only $1200 to upgrade!!

I dont see an 1199 marchesini wheel option on that site. Did you guys just buy the 1098 wheel and use front wheel spacers?
Also this site is located in europe? How much did it cost for shipping to the usa?
