So rewind a little while ago my rear Rotobox Boost wheel started losing air. Thinking it was leaking through the carbon weave or the valve stem I took it to my dealer and had them remove the tire to check. All was good so I put it back on my 1299 to see what happens. Yep, still leaking so it has to be the weave right? Wrong. I went to put air in it before the days ride and discovered that four of the five spokes is actually cracked! Woooooh that was close. So thankful for catching that. I think I'll go back to forged wheels instead. Not worth the risk.
Contacted Rotobox about it and they pretty much told me to pound sand because they claimed they were 6+ years old which I don't think they are until October. So I'm definitely not buying another set of Rotobox. Seems odd not to at least offer a discount on a new set but what do I know. Our automotive wheels are lifetime warranty no questions asked to the original purchaser. But I guess I shouldn't consider that the norm.
The thing about it is the Boost wheel has a pretty chunky spoke profile. So I think that contributed to not just immediately failing. Take the thin profile of the Bullet wheel and you may not be so lucky.
Keep an eye on your wheels before every ride! It may just save your life.
