MCS oem 19-21 vs RCS 19 corsa corta brake master cylinder

I think the stock m/c, caliper and discs, are nigh on perfect. I might say, they are delicious even.

What pads do you run?

Personally I didn’t like the stock MC, was to squishy for my preferences, but the Stylema Caliper is actually a really good caliper. No real need to upgrade it.

The 17 RCS Corsa Corta with the Stylema worked REALLY well.

Precisely. After coming from the ZX-10R with M50s and a 17 rcs, I felt like the Pani v4 front brakes were a joke. This despite the excellent stylema which are superior to the M50s. The culprit is the 16mm oem m.c Ultimately, it's all about rider feel and style of braking to a large degree.

In hindsight… the corsa corta 19 might actually work with the added adjustability (free play & lever ratio).

I say this because with the cc 17 my lever practically hits the throttle tube unless it’s set to the race free play setting. Admittedly though… I have not tested the alternative lever ratio yet.

I don't believe in general that will be any issue with bigger brake mastercylinder piston size.
The question is, is it going to eliminate the squeeze effect on the first brake application of the oem master cylinder?

Have you tried to place the m.c beside the throttle assembly and push the kill switch box to the other end? Might need an additional hole to be drilled to accommodate the pin, but saves spending 300 odd bucks on an integrated Jetprime throttle setup

I have and that does allow for more clearance.

I now have a domino throttle but it still gets very close.

Just a heads up on the JetPrime switches, I had one fail on my Streetfighter when I had it, replaced it and was fine. Didn’t think about it again. But then I was at the shop the other day and talking about Jetprime and they said they have installed several units that failed, apparently the pins keep breaking or failing in a hit or miss way, lately, dunno if Jetprime is using a new manufacturing facility or subcontractor or what but they are starting to have QC issues.

Ok, so I finally got to fit the HEL m.c 19mm on the motorcycle. I tried to place it beside the throttle box, pushing the kill switch box to the other end and no, it wouldn't work as the brake fluid nipple on the m.c hits the kill box. You try to take the m.c more outward and the throttle comes out of the handlebar. So finally took the stock pin off and fixed the HEL m.c in the stock position. With the lever play adjustment a bit higher, the lever doesn't touch the throttle box. Saved me the ordeal of buying a Jetprime throttle box.

This m.c also lacks a brake light switch. So I installed an hydraulic switch integral to the banjo.

Also, since the HEL m.c lacks a fitment hole for the fluid reservoir, I made a custom clamp that fastens via the damper bolt to hold the reservoir. Attached pics

And the verdict is...?

I'm with Rick actually, if bled properly, the standard m/cyl is pretty good. Plenty of feel and reasonably firm (insert ennuendo here..)

Agreed, stock is excellent. No need to change unless you are really particular to a different feel but its not going to make you stop quicker. Your choices are feel and modulation or less feel more trigger action, the choice is yours. If you are the kind of person who grabs a handful then the 19 may be more your style.

19 will push more fluid than a 17.

Do NOT grab a handful with either but the 17 is the more forgiving of the two.

Took the bike for a twisty ride and love the 19. A light touch is all it requires to slow down the bike. Exactly the way I've braked on my ZX-10R. With the 16mm stock m.c, I had to grab a handful and would yet not get the braking modulation I liked. I'm a late braker in the track as well and like this setup with 19x19 spec.

Quite the reverse actually. I had to grab a handful with the 16 and just need a light touch with the 19. The braking is at another level to my perception. As AlKhater said, you're pushing more fluid and that makes a world of difference. Ultimately, what you need is all about rider feel and preference. So go with what works💪

My only complaint about the OEM setup is that there's no feel to the lever. As you pull the braking force climbs and climbs and you can easily lift the rear at the end of a straight but since the weight you feel on the lever never really changes, the pull at 10% and 80% feels nearly the same, it's just the distance changes.

What are you say makes sense, you will need more lever travel with a 16 mm versus a 19 but the force on the brake pads with a larger diameter master reduces braking power everything else being equal but since it's pretty easy to lock up the front discs regardless of 17 or 19 it's just about feel.
