Hi has anybody had a problem with the hugger melting. Went out on bike yesterday for the first time after 80 mile last 3 miles in first gear as the bolt fell out the gear linkage. Noticed the hugger was a bit worse for wear melted.
enjoy the quality control and thought process behind the new heat shield and a plastic rear hugger. part of the soul you know the joy of owning a ducati. you get to go to the service dept for free parts.

lol.. I have only seen this problem on the new heat shield equipped bikes. My guess is the larger shroud focuses more heat on top of the hugger. Kinda glad I never did the heat shield "upgrades".
happened on my 2012 Base ABS once I had the heat-shied upgrade done, however has been fine ever since. If it happens again i'll tell them I want the DP carbon one and just pay the difference in cost.
i also have the old cf termi heat shield. looks better doesnt damage my hugger. the new one was turning my gloss carbon hugger yellow . dont have that problem anymore.
I'm curious as to whether the DP Carbon would hold up to the heat without undergoing discoloration. Has anyone actually switched back to the original heat shields after having the upgrades installed?
Just to note: I have had the new standard heat shield since purchase and haven't experienced any issues with my stock hugger melting/bubbling.
As of yesterday, I've installed my akrapovic so I hope the glossy carbon shield doesn't get damaged. The back area is definitely more exposed for air flow and the exhaust is supposed to run slightly cooler so hopefully after I replace this mudguard, I won't have any issues with the replacement.
