Metal shavings / flakes in oil filter

Probably it's unrelated to the oil flakes but while doing my latest oil change I discovered a very unpleasant surprise, two clutch basked spring failed, here is the thread related to that Clutch Basket Spring failure

I just did my oil change on my 2015 Panigale 1299s. I almost had a heart attack looking at the Drain bolt.

I am the second owner, just got this bike 3 months back. I should have done oil change right after.

4700miles on it now.

Unfortunately that's normal on these bikes. The manual says to clean it off and put it back in. I don't think anyone has found the source. I've done 3 oil changes and always had fuzz on the plug. It does seem to reduce though. Not sure if that means the interference causing the wear has opened up or if the ducati troll that lives in the engine has run out of anxiety inducing shavings......

Normal, mine had shavings every change but less each time until basically none after 40,000

I am joining this discussion because I just got my panigale 1199 r with 22k miles and I just did a good ride on her and when I got home there was oil spilling on my driveway.. so I look into it and it seems the dealer I got her from over filled the oil. Oil was leaking out of what appears to be a drain that pops out of the belly right above an electric fan. Right away I did the first oil change and find these same looking flakes in the oil .. .. non magnetic metallic looking flakes.. so just wondering what the conclusion on this topic was for you? If this is normal? Thank god! If it’s something I should replace now before it fails completely? I’d like to get on it asap.. any help would be appreciated

Hard to tell from the pic, but it it sealant? If so it's normal, just where the bead squishes on the inside of the motor and breaks off over time. When applying it go for less is more so there won't be enough to block the strainer.

I'm not sure what else it could be other than carbon though as I'm pretty sure all the moving parts are either magnetic or aluminium

They are definitely metal so they can’t be sealant. Tried taking a video but am unable to post video. I’ll will just ride on and see what happens. Thanks for the response 🙏

Update: I talked on this topic with the Ducati dealer and showed him all the oil filters I collected.
They took down the oil sump, checked the internal oil filter, and told me that everything was ok.
They told me that those flakes are normal and there is nothing to worry about 🤯.
I putten on the bike around 10k km since I initially started to take notice of those metal flakes.

Here are the oil flakes discovered after another 4k km

Any advice, any ideas ? Should I insist on rebuilding the engine?

Just drained oil in my 2015 1299 panigale with 7k kilometers on it. Brass and silver colored specs all through the oil. Engine sounds ok no vibration or knocking noises yet. Will drain oil in 1k. Send oil sample away to be tested.
