Had a great two days with Rickdiculous, Tuesday/Wednesday. Watched the MotoAmerica boys roll in and set up Wednesday...pretty cool walking through the pits. We did West on Tues and Outer (MA course) on Wednesday. I ran 2:10's on the outer...first time at Miller. Several corners I was still learning (7-Witchcraft) at end of day...braking point, turn-in point...lot of places to make up time.

...and this happened:

Heat from exhaust sheeted off the paint. I know the heat shield stuff would protect the backside of the fiberglass...but not sure how to protect that leading edge. Sean's happy to fix it....

Lastly...bike usually holds the front up all the way down the straight. But here it felt like I was down 15-20hp. I talked to the fellas and was told that's about right for 5,000 feet altitude. I hadn't experienced that before...pretty dramatic!

Great two days!

New paint looks great! I watched the WSBK there years ago and would like to hit that track someday myself. How does the track compare to others you've ridden?

Great school to go to and I'd love to do it but that one is pretty spendy. I'm sure Ken and the gang do a great job for the cost. So what's the best part of the class?

I had a CBR1000 5 yrs ago that I rode around Los Alamos, NM (7,400ft) and also had it in Utah (5,000 ft) and noticed a huge difference in power compared to riding at home (700 ft). It was night and day difference in power.

Grip, grip, grip! It was hot and on that pavement it felt like you could do no wrong! Me and Sherwick (RSV4, racing this weekend) worked with Ken exclusively. For me...just hammering fundamentals...bike placement, vision and focus...brakes. Brake curve (should look like a shark fin). Establishing "triggers" for each action (as soon as I sit up and touch first 5% of brakes...look to apex...back to turn-in point...then to apex upon turn-in). Wasn't maximizing turn 2 (Dreamboat) and Daytona told me to just weight my L peg a bit longer as I exited 1 to get me to the L-side kerbing going into 2...drive...lighter brake curve into 2.... Fixed it. Had trouble getting 8,9,10 (Attitudes) right. Scott Russell told me to apex 8 sooner...straighten the complex out. Bingo!

...and just feeling like you were a part of the MA spectacle...a guy can dream!

Have I mentioned that you make me sick with jealousy?? ;-) Wish I had the time to be able to be out there with you.. P.S. New baby on the way!!!

I feel really, really fortunate that, at least for right now...I'm able to do this! I'm just another schmuck...in the same garages as these riders?! Whaaaat?
