As everyone in the Twin Cities area knows, Ducati Minneapolis will be closing their doors at the end of this month. They are offering some steep discounts on what they have in stock. For example, today tires are 50% off. I picked up an Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP V2 200/55-17 rear for $108.18. Looked like they had a few of these tires in stock.

WOW... Thanks for sharing! That is too bad to hear about them closing.

Thanks!
Feel free to let me know when the bikes are 50% off :D

Called and ordered a few tires. Seriously- please let us/me know why kind of dead they've got tomorrow.
Do you know anything behind why they're closing up shop??

wow, what happened, why are they closing? is it worth a weekend trip to help them closeout?

Hmmm...I just got off the phone with them and they said $155+$25 shipping.

Not that I need tires but it's always good to stock up but no thanks.

Ducati Omaha and Ducati Indianapolis prove that it is possible for a single line Ducati dealer to succeed in the Midwest. Unfortunately, built on the back of one of the best independent Ducati service and tuning shops in the Midwest, Silverback Performance, the money backers who had never worked in the motorcycle industry before got control over the dealership and screwed it up.

For example, they fired or drove out everyone who was associated with Silverback after about a year in business and then raised their service rates by 25% even though they didn't even have a level 2 certified tech at the time. Silverback's faithful customers, a who's who of Twin Cities Ducati owners steered clear and advised others to do the same.

They hired an ex-Ferracci manager and failed to listen to him. They got rid of him after about a year replacing him with an amateur road racer they sponsored who had absolutely no industry background (he ran a small general contractor business before being hired).

In short, the guys with no industry background ended up running the dealership and didn't have a clue how to do it well enough to be profitable.

... I retract my previous statements. Its no surprise this ........ is going out of business.

I call two days ago about a couple tires. First I'm hung up on. Then I'm told i will get a call back with a shipping quote and we can do the sale. Two days later no call. .........

I know about 25% service increases. These fools in Metuchen NJ and Manahattan NYC somehow think we will shell out 130$ an hour +tax for ducati labor. they must be smoking dope. pricks.

Well, I do think it's true for the most part that the only "successful" single-line Ducati dealers the past 10 years have been enthusiast-owned/operated shops. Us, Indy, Advanced Motorsports, DucPond, etc. "Successful" is defined as we haven't declared bankruptcy. Ha ha!

I think Ducati NYC is back down to about $90/hr.

They've recently had a shakeup in their service dept.

Lowlives never called me back. With customer 'service' like that, i'm happy to see this place going out of business.
