I received an email from Gianlucca at MotoXP today. My race bodywork is finally ready to ship on Monday. I have not seen it in person, but Gianlucca sent me some pictures. I also got MotoXP to provide a race windscreen and seat pad for the bodywork. Those items are not pictured. This bodywork is specific to the 1299. Man, this was a chore because I've missed the entire WERA race season waiting on bodywork. I'll let you guys know the fit and finish when I receive it. Total cost with elite level painting was a tad over $1100.

Their stuff is pretty decent, we've had several sets of it the last couple of years.

Jarel:

Is there anything my mechanic really needs to be aware of when he starts pulling off the bodywork? I ordered the "clip bracket" for the IMU to be placed with the new bodywork in the nose of the fairing. Anything that requires "special" attention because it's hard to remove or anything that is super sensitive and subject to breaking? Thank you. JRB

How does the tank cover work? I'm assuming slip on over the top, but how do you protect the original tank from scratching or scuffing etc?

Shame the top section isn't predrilled for the screen before painting.
Looks like a cracking set of bodywork though.

Mutt:

I have no idea "specifically" on how to protect the tank. I guess I'm going to get some one sided super soft and thin strips of foam and put them on the OEM tank. I should be able to find something at HomeDepot, Lowes or Ace Hardware. I should've just bought a spare tank and had MotoXP paint it.

Looks nice but the front cowl looks just like the 1199? ( No difference in the air inlets etc.) is it just the way it mounts to the fairing stay that is different? The 1299 has a different mounting points .. Otherwise it looks the exact same. How bout the tail section. Will it be of the newer split tail design like the 1299?

Nice looking set up though. I'm sure it will look smashing on your bike.

That is a 1299 top/front fairing. The sides are more flared also the ram air inlets are less angular/straighter then those on the 1199 ;)

Not sure on the seat unit, but they do offer a 3 piece 1299 version.

Here is listing another of there 1299 kits, with the single piece "Race" seat unit with nice closeup of the seat unit.

I haven't seen the bodywork. It did ship because I received a freight order today from Gianluca at MotoXP. They make a supersport tail. However, I ordered the superbike one piece tail for the foam pad.

Race plastic

Highly recommend this plastic for 1299, one complain though it's not pre drilled

Not at all?

What's the score with headlight removal etc, as it looks like they are enclosed
over the lights area? I've been looking at these for a while but still undecided due to the time to change back and forth from street bodywork. Am going to take a closer look at Eicma in November before pulling the trigger.

I am using the OEM fairing stay. The bodywork fits like a glove. MotoXP also sent me a really tall and super clear windscreen. Someone posted a video about covering the OEM tank with low adhesive tape before putting on the tank cover from MotoXP. That video was much appreciated. The paint quality and clear coating exceed what I paid for it, especially here in Jacksonville, Florida.

If anyone wants to see pictures, just pm me or [email protected] and I'll send you some pictures of their work. Very cool guys and easy to work with.

Is the tank cover steeper from back? My biggest complain (and the only one) is the tank, giving no support to crotch area under heavy track riding/braking.

Are you using the OEM Fairing Stay?

Also, which Ram-Air Funnel are you using?

Thanks

Bodywork comes with a Ram-Air Funnel ,its compatible with the OEM Fairing Stay , it has a little indents where you need to drill the holes. Make sure you have IMU mount bracket for this swap, its not included with the plastic, i got my mount from this member Tcelano. good luck

for me its an improvement over OEM tank, it gives you an extra layer, making tank a little wider bigger, is a little easy now with my long legs to grip

Has anyone fitted the bellypan? It does not seem to fit correctly. It is to narrow for the Akra exhaust bracket. It also seems to land right in the center of the lower radiator making it impossible to mount...

If you got it mounted, how?

Update for anyone struggling with this. I finally got everything sorted. The belly pan is intended to go between the radiator shroud and the radiator. It requires hacking off the lower radiator mount. There is a bump in the belly pan that then secures the radiator. It fits like a glove.

To get the Akra bracket to fit, I heated the fiberglass with a heat gun just enough to soften it up, then I stuck the bracket in until it cooled.
