Anyone install the MWR air filter. It recommends an ECU update... With having the termis and the up-map for them will that be sufficient for what they are requiring?

i have this installed for a year now. i only used the termi update. i have a full system but i ran last year with just slips. the ducati runs rich. i found out this actually makes it run better without doing anything. hey this is just me but i have had no problems believe me if i did you would know about it lol.

Posted this a few times, but I hear the search function can be hit or miss, so here it is again:

I have a 2012 with Termi slips, Termi slips up-map and MWR HE filter. Had my bike dyno'd last month and here is the results:

You can see the bike is running fairly rich still. I know 2 other local 1199's that were dyno'd on the same dyno by the same operator in similar conditions. One was bone stock and it put out 169. The other was also stock but had the MWR HE filter (no fueling changes) and he put out 170. He had no issues with just the filter and no fueling.

So I'm pretty happy that my bike with Termi slips, up-map and MWR HE filter put out right at 179. Probably some more to be gained with a RapidBike module and using their auto-tune. The guy I mentioned above that was bone stock and put out 169, recently had the Termi slip-ons, MWR air filter, Rexxer ECU Flash and RapidBike Module with Auto-tune installed. He made a custom map based on the RapidBike software interface and went back to the same dyno/operator that we go to. He pulled 177. This made me even happier as I didn't have the expense of a Rexxer ECU flash and RapidBike module and got similar numbers. I have no idea if his thottle response is improved over mine and haven't overlayed the dyno charts to see of he has other powerband gains though.

Hope this helps.

Very nice. I'm happy with my purchase then :) I see you're not to far from me. I use to live in oviedo right on the corner of 434 and the 417 toll rd. Did a lot of work in lake Mary area. I use to do HVAC there. You should hike up to quakerstate lube on bike night one of these days. Good times and a lot of bikes. I ride with a very large group.

Cool. Where is the Quaker State bike meet? I don't know that one. I'm going to the Food Truck Night at the Milk District on Robinson and Bumby tonight on the bike. Been to Daytona every day since Friday and need a break.

It's a bit of a ride for you but on a bike it will be a wonderful ride. Slide down I4 west towards Tampa. Take I4 all the way to 275N to 60W taking you across courtney cambell causeway. once you're over the bridge you will come to Mcmullen booth Rd and make a left going south. this will take you over bayside bridge and quaker steak and lube is on your Right (10400 49th Street North
Clearwater, FL 33762) Every Wednesday is bike night. This goes for all quaker steak and lubes across the country. Would prob be an hour ride for you if you run the 417 to I4 bypassing Orlando rush hour traffic. It's worth the trip. Lot of bikes and good people. live bands ect.. It's a mix of sport bikes and harleys. Each has their own section.

Thanks man. It is a bit of a haul but sounds like good fun.

Come to Daytona this weekend for the races. There are a couple 1199Rs running in the Superbike race.

I would love to but unfortunately I don't have my bike yet. Had to put a deposit down to reserve the Arctic white. Bike doesn't come in till weds or thurs of next week. I'm not much for taking super long rides with no destinations and daytona would have been great to put a good dent in the break in. 600 miles is going to feel like a lifetime! I plan on breaking bike in as suggested.. Not to exceed 6000 rpms. I have heard some people breaking it in hard but I rather be safe then sorry. I'm just ordering all the aftermarket stuff I can find so I can have the bike the way I want it and out the door the same day.

I def take a ride up to orlando though in the future. Been awhile since I have seen town and have a few friends in the area. A good friend of mine Owns the cigar bar just outside the rear entrance of heathrow. Real upscale classy bar. Would be nice to hit city walk again too. I have not been there in ages. Everyone loved going to church street.. City walk was more enjoyable to me.

perhaps we can meet up around plant city in the future. I bought my beagle from a breeder out their ( had my R1 at the time) There was some nice wide open roads in the backwoods to really open the bike up. I love speed! But my license reflects that with 12 points now. If i get hit again I lose my license smh. This state is all about speeding tickets and they love to pull us bikers over. easy money!

That is right down the road from my house. Text me when you come to town. 919-434-nine five three three. Congrats on your new bike!

Hey Jeff.

Whats you best guess the air filter adds in HP?

I need one, but hard pressed to justify the MWR over a $50 K&N

Well, based on my story above, it seems to add very little to a bike just by itself, i.e. without an exhaust mod and fueling change as well. I can't speak to the improvements used just by itself in terms of throttle response, but there are some bold claims out there. Forum member Ljuice26 is the guy I mentioned above that had his bike dyno'd with just the MWR HE filter and put down 170. Perhaps he can chime in here and comment on the difference he noticed (if any) before and after.

From 75 to 130mph that thing is pig rich!!! If it were 13.0 a/f these dips in the graph would be gone!

That's what I would like to think, but I've never seen a 1199 dyno chart that doesn't have that dip. Even with the Akra and custom maps that dip is still there. I don't know if its worth any more money to try and tune it out.

can anyone advise on adding the HE filter set-up with my basic ECU and stock exhaust? MWR told me i can expect gains of 4-6 HP at the wheel with no tune, and its not bad for the bike. of course a custom map with some tuning would be ideal, and that is in the works, but what are your feelings on running the filter system with a OEM ECU and stock exhaust for a month or two? if anyone has experience with this personally your input would be greatly appreciated!!!
