Hey guys just thought I'd share a picture of my new toy.

After selling my 848 about a year ago, I knew I wanted another duke but couldn't pull the trigger until I heard about the 1199R,

Rizoma goodies on order!

Thanks to Ride Motorcycles Toronto for making it happen

Alex

Congrats! It's an addictive bike...mine is 2 weeks old and not past break-in yet, and I've got a stash of parts in the corner ready to go on!

DUC for short Ducati for normal..

Enjoy your bike rides like a dream Wether it be R or base...

congrats man
I thought GP would have given you the best deal, but I guess I was wrong...

Enjoy your machine:)

Got my R from Peninsula. GP is a good shop but they weren't close.

what ? peninsula??
I have never had any proper service or competitive pricing from those guys.
They also have the worst customer service I have ever experienced...
glad it worked out for you...:)

Awesome! Enjoy!

Thanks!

congrats.
Their a good dealer. Wish i picked my 1199S there.

That is an understatement! Contact Oliver at ride if you need accessories, he went above and beyond on this one.;)

Nice! Congrats on a great replacement for the 848.

After the 100km ride lastnight I can say they each have a different riding style.

I noticed that the rpm's are set not to exceed 6k, I'm I better off respecting this?

According to the manual yes. But there are different preferences to how you break in an engine. I stayed under 6k 95% of the time, just with various engine loads (various amounts of throttle). Sometimes I pin it in 6th gear just to give it some load, but still under 6k rpms.

I just passed the 1000km mark and the RPM automatically set the redline to 11,000rpms and up.

Well during the 100kms ride I varied load as well threw 2-3-4-5-6, using engine breaking in each gear to slow back down.

Has your bike every shut off on you?

When approaching a stop I let in the clutch and the bike shut off:confused:
This happened 4 times last night.

Yes it did...when I first picked up the new bike it used to shut off about twice every ride.

I read one of the threads here that advised to bend the clutch pin a bit which helped tremendously. Now it only shuts off randomly once a week! :p

let me see if I can find that thread..

Good to know I'm not the only one

What oil brand did you go with for the 1000km service? I'm thinking motul

I'm going with Motul 300V. This bike gets HOT! 300V has a much higher tolerace to heat before it breaks down. I use it in all my race/sport vehicles.

Congrats! Ride the piss out of it from the first mile and enjoy it in good health!

848

here are some pictures of the one it replaced!
