I figured everyone would get a kick out of this.

It's a 2012 Kawasaki Concours. It has the same motor as the ZX-14 I think, just detuned to around 150 hp. Kawasaki put a speed limiter on that kicks in at 125, and it gets there fast! The redline is 10500. It's a good all around bike. It goes through our cone exercises real good. It's fast, but does weigh around 650 lbs. Speeders, beware you're probably not getting away! Lol.

The "Tango 32" on the trunk is my radio call sign. You can see the box mounted to the front crash bar where the dreaded laser gun goes. I put in a pic of the cockpit. Under the windshield are the speakers to my iPod. It can get boring out there sometimes!

A speed limiter??? for real? Or are you setting up a trap here?

Cheers,

Phil

I've never heard a bad review on the Concours. Sure, some people do not like the styling, but from a functional standpoint they're very good bikes and fast.

I cruise around Austin area on my ZX14R and motorcycle cops usually let me be. I think they have BMW's around here.

Yeah, the speedo goes to 180, but sure as .... it starts bouncing off of the limiter at 125. But, by then I've caught up to the car already!

I like the concours also. It's fast, comfortable and turns tight. The saddlebags are huge. I think my only complaint is it tends to fight you just a little bit while cornering. It tries to upright itself. Not too bad though. We use Bridgestone Battlax BT021 tires.

That ecu reflash sounds like fun; however, I like my job! Lol.

That is a nice bike. I like how clean it is, no decals, no mirrors, no license plate, not even anything on the mufflers.

Meanwhile anyone on a sport bike can dust that thing. Hell, a skinny guy on a Harley will burn it down.

Speed limiter. What a joke.

My other bike, limiter is when you can't hang on anymore....

A fairly sporty motorcycle limited to 125mph? What a waste. Pretty sad when a Buell can outrun you on a 1400cc I4.

Wow worlds biggest cup holder in photo 2 or is it a holder for a radar gun.

Paid to ride a motorcycle just like Fonzie wanted to do. Great job.

My "other" bike

My father-in-law is a retired motorcycle cop that (obviously) still rides and has a few bikes.

It's hard to tease him into getting up past about 10 over the limit, but every now and then he gets going pretty good.

He has some pretty cool stories about how their training including riding Harley's down flights of stairs and whatnot. I'm not entirely sure what the logic was with some of those training drills, but whatever.

A little before he retired, the dept moved up to the 1600 BMW GT. From what I can tell, he was pretty pissed that they made them ride Harleys for so long.

Definitely pretty cool to have a job that you get paid to ride a bike for...

I guarantee I can definitely catch a Harley. I get to 100 mph quickly, and if I can't catch somebody on that bike then I let them go. I'll come back to fight another day.

We have never done stairs, but do trail rides through city parks a lot.

I used to ride occasionally with this guy. Let me tell you .. well.. maybe I shouldn't, but all I can say is :eek::eek::eek: I have NEVER ridden as hard on ummmm... "private roads in Mexico" as I did with him..

He was FAST and extremely competent.

Pretty much every single Motorcycle Cop I have met has been cool. They usually let me off with a warning and tell me that 10 over is OK, but then after that, I'm fair game to them. They have a tough job and a far higher fatality rate than the CHP guys in Cars. I give the Motorcycle guys a TON of credit and leeway; it's a difficult job and let's face it, some of us ain't exactly polite when we get pulled over for speeding.

JD and 80shilling, I am thankful to have my job. It is a lot of fun. I still get the "holy ...., I get paid to ride a bike" feeling now and then!

Brad, that is indeed my cup holder. It mostly holds coffee in the winter because in the summer it gets so damn hot I drink my bottles of water in one sip!

I had a 2010 Concours. The limiter was at 154 actual. I hit it several times and with a 55 tire on it I saw 157 on GPS.
