I’m 23 have a 2021 panigale v4, does anyone else have upper back/ neck pain while riding?? It’s pretty annoying and almost takes the fun out of riding. I’ve been trying different positions but haven’t found anything that alleviates the discomfort, I believe it’s because I’m holding up my head w/ the weight of the helmet.

You're probably carrying too much tension in your shoulders. Are you relaxed on the bars with your thighs gripping the tank?

Use core body muscles to support the upper body while riding. That’s the abdominal, oblique and back muscles.

Gripping the tank with your thighs isn’t best practice but can mitigate some discomfort, it can only be done on relatively straight roads and/or when riding slow.

Generally though there’s no getting away from the fact that riding a sport bike on the road is just uncomfortable. It’s ergonomics are designed for track use, being fully tucked in, leaning off, braking hard etc.

From the Qatari rac1ngsnak3...

Do you really think the OP is grinding elbow sliders bouncing around on the bike or holding a static position too long?

I understand that but I always have had sport bikes and never had the issue.

That’s likely the reason.

Compare the differences in riding positions from your previous sport bikes to the Panigale and then you’ll figure out what needs to be modified to suit.

I really think I need to raise the bars slightly and that will definitely help.

Definitely get the bike's suspension setup to your weight. Stock, the rear is super stiff and the front soft which kind of always catapults you forward onto your wrists. The more you can ride with your forearms being parallel to the ground the happier your upper body will be. Do you have any nagging injuries or anything which is exacerbating the situation?

Nope no injuries, but definitely a sensitive back/neck. Overall the bike is comfortable but just the neck issue. I have yet to set suspension, i do notice that it is extremely stiff.

From the factory the rear has a lot of preload. Get that sorted first. Another user here liked lowering the rear and raising the front. It makes it more comfortable and stable in turns but it takes more effort on turn-in. Not that its a bad thing. The base rear shocks aren't adjustable for length, but you can adjust the forks for height.
