Never go into a ducati store with a high credit limit on your credit card. Walked in to look at the 2015 Diavel and walked out with a scrambler on a whim. That's how ducati gets you. Last time I went to buy a t-shirt and walked out with an 1199R

They mug you at the door...lol. Seriously, I was really surprised how nice the bike was. I thought it would look and feel cheap and small, but to my surprise I loved it. Then I started looking at the diavel like "do I really need another rocket ship?" I should just have a tool around bike and this was it.

If you have a weak constitution don't go to your local shop, they will get you, they got me

Congrats on the new bike. Sometimes I feel a spontaneous purchase is the most gratifying, although buying a (another, in your case) Ducati is gratifying in itself.
Where in NY are you? Im in Poughkeespie.

Cool. Which color?
I always deny making a test ride. I don't want to get tempted :)

Lol... Reminds me of the time I went to get an oil change on my wife's car and left with a new truck.

Let us know how you like it!

I actually live in Wappingers, when I'm home. I work 9 months of the year in Saudi Arabia, hence my ability to keep myself draped in exotica...lol.

I should be back home the beginning of July to see the folks and take the kids to Disney World. I have both my bikes here in Saudi as I always seem to get home in the winter months and can't ride.

When I get back I'll post and see if I can't scam a demo bike from Nick at Rockwell so we can go out for a ride on the Taconic.

Cheers.

The Orange Classic. It actually looks the best in person and the worst in pics. The enduro's flat green paint didn't do it for me in person. Nor did the Yellow Icon. The red Icon looks nice.

But I wanted the spoked wheels and brown seat. I will give a more detailed report when I pick it up.

Help me please, as I'm going round the Scrambler decision mill a bit.

So, why this and not a Monster 821?

I have to say the 821 is a nice bike. I think just like the 899 and the 1199, and now 1299 argument, it comes down to buyer's remorse.

The Scrambler magically makes the feeling disappear, cause there is no "big Brother" version to compare it to. The seating position is real upright and the handlebars are high, this is all relative cause the only other bikes I ride are dedicated track/race bikes on the track.

I think the retro thing along with the customization that can be done with the scrambler makes it a fun bike, not a performance chasing extravaganza.

Don't get me wrong I'm going to try the scrambler on the track just to see what it is like when pushed a bit and see how grippy the tires actually are.

Then I'm just going to commute/ .... around with it.

Any long haul aspirations may come in the future in the form of a multistrada or something like that. It's too soon for those thoughts now.

good luck

Ha my brother thought he could buy a house on a credit card! When they told him no you can't he walked a little way to the Honda dealer and came out with a VFR 750 ( some time back)

Small word my friend. I actually live in Wappingers as well. I tell people Poughkeepsie because when I reference Wappingers they look at me like I have 5 heads. Nick is great, very knowledgable man. I wish he had the bike I wanted! My first experience with Rockwell was a lasting impression. I went in for a simple inspection with my Husky SMR510, next thing I know he had it all wired up tuning the map. Great bunch of gents.

I know the feeling. I stayed away for over 6 months for that very reason. When a friend suckered me in to stop by there I bought my R.
