What's up guys I'm new to the forum, just traded my 2014 multi S touring for a 15 1299 Base. For starters I love this bike, I've always had rockets and switched up to a touring for commute purposes but after a while realized I still have a need for track days! I almost bought a 13 1199S or new 899 over a 1299S but decided to go right in the middle and get a 1299 Base. So far I absolutely love it. I've had several twins, a few 4 cyls, and a 675 triple. This bike seems to fill all the gaps with stupid top end and bottom end grunt! I have a couple of questions.

Are there any inexpensive mods that you guys feel are a must for this bike?

I was thinking of wrapping my rear header with header heat wrap to cool it down a bit. Has anyone tried this with success or not?

I also wanted to go to bar end mirrors but still need turn signals any thoughts on how to accomplish this? or are there signals in the headlights?

The exhaust is out of my price range but would having this bike dyno'd and retuned help me at all as far as maximizing available power?

What are you guys running for Coolant and oil? I plan on tracking it but I also commute to work about a hour one way?

Thanks for all the info in advance guys!

The best mod I've done so far is actually a proper suspension setup :) Other stuff you can do cheap is get a fender eliminator (I got Rizoma), grips (I got Progrip 717, same as OEM on the Superleggera I'm told), and a retune (not exactly cheap, so I haven't done it yet).

There are some mirror block off plates with integrated indicators, but most of them look like crap. I'm thinking about integrating amber LED strips in the headlight..

[Edit]: I forgot the most important thing you can do with the Pani: Have tons of fun! :D

Check out the thread "I removed throttle slop" - THAT is the best cheap mod to do. ~$30 and 5 min of work.

Welcome aboard, hope you enjoy your bike.

Does this qualify for a repeat post? ( see other post on repeat posts );)

Just joking, its a great forum.

I can get you a set of those throttle shims, but I have no idea what the postage would be from Norway to where you are.. We need 20 usd plus shipping for them..

Get the fender eliminator for first aesthetic upgrade, IMO.

I like the idea of the bar-end mirrors and you could do the block-offs with the turn signals in them.

As for oil, Motul 300v for me. Coolant is going to distilled water and water wetter, I think.

I hear that wrapping the pipes creates heat dispersement issues. If you want to look at a pretty awesome exhaust option, check out Phl's posts in the marketplace threads. He offers an exhaust coring service that has gotten awesome reviews. I will likely be having him do mine this winter.

No direct experience with changing any mapping, but reading a lot on the Rapidbike module and hope to do that as well.

I saw that exhaust coring! It made my day knowing I had a option that was a minimum of $2,000! lol Will that help with heat at all since you're getting that exhaust gas out faster?
