This looks like a very interesting product. I don't think its for someone who wants to ride to work per se, but for the weekend twisty road or the track it looks like it would be amazing. I like how its integrated with a removable undersuit and it adds hip protection. I have a pair of Track V2 pants but never could get the hip protectors in a position where they don't bind my hip movement. An airbag would solve that problem.

What are your thoughts?

I was hoping to see these at the A* booth this weekend at COTA. They have none on display unfortunately.
I've been thinking about picking one up, once available, when they announced it a month or so ago.

I never saw it was announced. Last night around 11pm all the YouTuber videos went live which is how I found out about it.

What's the story when you have an off and these deploy and you need to recharge them? I know the first gen tech air suits were a PITA as you had to send it in and it would take weeks to get it back. Guys were buying two suits so they could send one in while still have one to ride.

I’m going to get mine as soon as they have my size available. I have a street and a race tech star. Love them both. I never ride without them. Looking forward to the additional protection of the 10.

Looks to be the same. Allegedly, Alpinestars is training vendors to be able to service it after a deployment, which I think is just changing the cartridges for $200. After three deployment the air-bag needs to be replaced for $400.

Interested in this as well. I crash tested the Techair race last year and have one charge remaining prior to needing service. Bought a Misano D-air as a backup.

I've been looking into the airbags too. I noted the first Dainese were EITHER Track specific or Road specific as they claimed different algorithms etc were very different for each. I buy that as you usually don't get hit by a car turning left on the track.
Then A-Stars 2021 model came out where you can switch between ROAD or TRACK. Other better than that aspect was 2 cartridges, so you can keep racing or make it home after a small crash.
Both A-Star and D-Air require servicing annual or every 2 years. These things are getting updated. If you live no where near a dealer & have to ship it to over there and waiting... not very attractive. I think soon they'll make this more stream lined. I see at least 5 different companies making some version of airbag vests now, but I don't particularly trust WhatEver Inc. with such critical tech. Dainese invented it over 10 years ago. But IMHO A-Star is the better deal at the moment.

A* Tech Air 5 is the only switchable Race/Street and only 1 charge then needs sent for service. This is what I currently use. Getting it under a suit is a chore and requires 2 people, it is not bulky, but not a tight fit so bunches up in spots.
A* Tech Air Race is the two canister, two deploy before send for service, but only works with Tech Air compatible suits and only race algorithm.
A* Tech Air 10 I finally got to see at COTA. I like the idea of it being your undersuit. That removes the bunching issue with the 5. Other than that I haven't researched it much yet
Dainese vest is street only algorithm and one discharge before send for service
In&Motion(InEMotion)(Klim, Ixon, RST supplier) looks like a really good option for multiple usage cases, The cartridges are user changable so you can probably get many disharges. The downside is it is subscription based. They supply all the air bags for Ixon riders in MotoGP

My Tech Air 5 was soaked, with sweat, this past Tuesday at COTA Aprilia Day. Even in my vented Dainese Kyalami, no air gets through it. But, that's the cost of protection should ya go down, right?!?!?!

The Tech Air Race can be flashed with street firmware to behave like the Tech Air Street(pops both canisters, no minimum speed for activation) and then flashed back again, but it isn't as easy as the Air 5 switch.

Good info to know, thanks.

Yeah, for the 5 you just open the app, put it in street or air mode and away you go.

OK you guys peaked my interest. I watched the full revzilla review video. It looks like you have to send it in for repack after every deployment correct? Even though it has two cannisters, you don't get two crashes/deployments for every repack, you only get one?

EDIT: Yes, Techair 10 is a "single deployment" system. Alpinestars Tech-Air Airbags Get Updated & Expanded for 2022

Race mode does not work under 37 mph. Not sure how I feel about that. Lots of bones can break if you crash under 37 mph, the severity of the injury is always subject to the specific way you crash not the speed. So I suppose I could always leave it in street mode and have it work all the time - does anyone know if street mode deployment algorithm is different from race mode?

At least with the Tech-Air 10 you can take the under suit portion off of the airbag and clean it so you don't smell like used hockey equipment.

...And that's why I'm still using the old Dainese hard armor. It's breathable. All of the airbags that I've seen are basically wearing a big plastic bag. Obvi great tech, but that's a big design challenge to get air passing through them.

Some of the new suits Alpinestars has, the Fusion for example use more woven fabric which passes a ton more air. An air bag isn't going to flow air but they can make the suit compensate.

I've got a perforated Alpinestars suit now that's compatible. It passes a ton of air, but ya, the airbags don't. I have the idea they could get air under airbags with a 3-4mm 3D bubble liner and have air gates in the leather suits to get air flow tangential between the suit & body instead of passing through it.
I mean, why don't they just ask me how to do it? ;P
Maybe the Tech-Air 10 has something like that. ? They didn't hit that topic in the vid. I'll have to go see one.
