New carbon fiber tank: to coat (epoxy liner) or not to coat?

Hello out there - I have a brand new, never used, albeit probably 5-8 year old carbon fiber tank for a Ducati 916. I do not know the manufacturer. My brother-in-law gave it to me as part of a project before he passed away from cancer in 2020. I am getting conflicting opinions about whether or not to Caswell-coat the inside: one person says yes, painter/expert/Ducati owner with CF tank says no. Others not sure. Reaching out to see if anyone can help me with this? This bike will sit a lot more than it is used - not a race bike; street/track day bike for very occasional use. Thank you in advance for your guidance!

Carbon tanks are usually made from pre-preg which has a huge range of specifications, also it depends on how its built. Some epoxies can be affected by alcohol, so the answer is it depends! The cure might be worse than the potential problem, I am not a fan of coatings inside fuel tanks especially epoxy tanks as you cannot abrade it for a mechanical bond. I would just leave it.
