Proud to be a new owner of a 2014 Duck 1199S Dark Stealth, just a few weeks old. Going thru the break in period as carefully as possible but is extremely hard not to get happy on this bike. A very strange thing happened when returning home from a nice spirited ride. When turning into my driveway, I hit a minor bump while slightly leaned over and the bike cut off. Huh!!! What just happened? My suspicions are the kickstand/sensor but really not sure. The bike did start back up with no issue but can you imagine if this happened at speed on the road. Has anyone experienced any thing similar?

Welcome to the forum!

Sorry, that issue sounds unfamiliar ...

Congratulations on the Dark Stealth. I love the look of them and I've only ever seem one on the road:)
Make sure you look after the paint properly because it's quite hard to look after.

Regarding your problem.
It's been known to happen a bit with brand new DUCATI's.
My Streetfighter did it randomly a number of times(4-5), with it happening twice on the first day on mine, and very early on during the running-in phase then it tapered off to become absolutely non-existent. Others on Streetfighter forums reported the exact same thing.
My 1199 did it as well quite a lot but software updates fixed it.
Others on this forum also had the problem early on in production.

Nobody really knows what causes it, but there's reasonable speculation in some quarters that it's related in some way to the TC???? It ties in pretty well with your experience of going over a bump;)
It's inconclusive though:(
I believe there "may" be some truth to it, but I personally think it may also be because one or more of the computers are in the earliest stage of a learning curve.
Also another contributing factor could be that under certain conditions, the engine is running very lean at low RPM's. Combine this with a tight engine that's still to loosen up and it's not inconceivable that it may stall/cut out randomly.

For your information.
The earliest versions of software installed into the 1199 contributed to random cutting out at low speed whilst down shifting and decelerating.
Like when approaching a set of traffic signals with a view to stoping or to make a turn.
As stated above, new software updates from very early on has since fixed the problem.

I would suggest you take note of it for future reference, with a view to reporting it to the dealer if the problem persists.
I know it's of no real help at this stage:(
Especially as it's so random and unexpected when it occurs:eek:

Get out there and have some more fun on that black beauty;)

Keep us in the loop as to how it's going.

Enjoy:)

Wet mode? Or DTC set to 3? Lumpy Ducati idle can set off the DTC, even spin (kinda) the tire a bit on slick slow turns into lots over the curb. It'll go away. Try pulling the clutch in.

Also be mindful about bumping the shift lever if your DQC is turned on. Try it off.

It'll get reflashed at it's first service, if dealers good. Hopefully they'll scrap the Charcoal canister as well. If Aussie bikes even get those.

Mine did this every 30 miles or so, Ducati mechanic adjusted the TPS, hasn't done it since. Just my bike, yours may be different.

Just wanted to say thanks for the info to all who shared a similar experience. Very interesting information. Nice to know it wasn't just me. Btw; I'm running the bike in sport mode,195 low with DTC set at 6. So far it hasn't happened again but am on the lookout.
