Thanks for sharing. From what I've read the comp werks ltd fender elim isn't compatible with that new heat shield.

I tried to get rid of the left plastic engine cover just because i thought the cylinder itself looks nice, not so easy though. Some wires was clamped inside it so it will stay.

Yes, there is a new heat sheild for the full Termi system available as part of the optional heat cover upgrade kit from Ducati. If you have the full Termi system, the dealership who is installing the upgrade kit needs to order a special carbon heat shield to install, and needs to send a copy of the sales receipt from the full Termi system in to Ducati with the order. So if you have a full Termi, and are planning to take your bike in to the dealer to get the heat shield upgrades done, make sure you let the dealer know in advance so they can order the carbon heat sheid for you to have ready for when you bring your bike in.

Is the plumbing that different on the full Termi? Or they just treating it differently?

I just got the full system and my dealer installed a carbon fiber heat shield with the kit. Does this mean I have the new one?

The Termi full system comes with a carbon fiber heat shield. As part of the "heat shield upgrade" kit, you can get a larger more heat-resistant cover in carbon for your full system through your dealer IF you ask for it and provide a copy (or they should have it already if you bought your exhaust from them) of the purchase receipt for the Termi system.

Thanks everyone, I will have to touch base with my dealer Tuesday and see. Much appreciated. -Eddie.

So since the recall came in for the current metal heat shield, the CF is only an option for those who buy a full Termi kit at the same time? We cant opt to have the CF heat shield installed as the recall upgrade?

You get the CF shield if you bought a full termi at any time. It's made to fit the termi full system though. Not sure why they didn't offer CF for the stock set up.

Went to Ducati today and the Mechanic told me that the new Heat shield arrived and wanted my opinion. He pulled it out of the box and I didn't think it looked bad at all. So he asked me if he could install it on my bike and this would be their first install. I had time to kill so I said what the hell go ahead. So he did the heat shield mod for the Termi Full System.

Initial impression of the Termi Full System CF heat shield.
1. looks to be the same size as the original in terms of diameter. Pictures make it look larger than it actually is.
2. little longer going downward to cover more of the header.
3. Extended to protect heat on ankle (Never felt heat on ankle cause i always wear my Riding boots) but people who don't ride with Ankle high would benefit.
4. Metal shield internal of the Carbon Fiber.
5. Carbon Fiber matches better with all the Ducati CF Matches Ducati Rear tire tire hugger perfect. The Original CF was shinny and didn't match the rear tire hugger.

Initial impression of the Head Cover
1. Well made.
2. Hides the beauty of the Magnesium head but blends in well (CF would of been better) Its only a matter of time before we see aftermarket shields.

Overall It doesn't look bad at all in fact we both liked it. More carbon fiber the Better!. We thought it was going to be this huge thing but that wasn't the case at all. The size is the same as the original just a little longer downwards. In photos, the light makes it look huge because you see it in 2D but in 3D Real Life its no bigger than the original the extended part curves inwards which photos don't really show it well. Riding home I felt something was missing and different and realized it was the heat that was missing. I was used to the heat. No seat heat and most of all no burning in my right inner thigh. Decided to ride in town in and make my bike really hot to test it out. I will honestly say no heat. Well done Ducati! My old Termi Heat shield was browning on the outside around the rim and the inside was completely burnt through the heat reflective lining and causing the CF to get really brittle. It wouldn't have lasted another 2-3 months of riding. All in All I really like the Mod and for me its a keeper. One thing to note is the Engine heat sheild will have to be slightly (Shaved) modified if you are using the Sato Engine slider. Pain in the ass to install approx 4 hours for his first install Im sure he will cut the time down. Tank, fairings, subframe all have to be removed.

IMHO, this is a slight problem for those of us that were on the fence about termis. The new shield is so big and now that it is plastic it is really going to frostify (Canadian for "douche up") the looks of my carbon rear fender. I don't think I'd go as far as getting full termis to remedy it, but I was thinking slips already so it isn't that radical of a departure since that carbon piece is so big it would cost several hundred anyway if they sold it a la carte.
