This is the pinnacle of the ARAI helmet range - the RX-7 RC, at least in germany.
And as i was ordering some carbon stuff for the bike (which should arrive any moment!!!!)
the helmet was a nice extra.

but pricy!

...the duc too

whatever

Saw one of these at the shop the other day and damn is that thing sweet. 4k is a bit steep for me though.

@ Karrl and JayKay Thanks ....helpful

@flynbulldog LOL, would agree with you on their flip top helmets I find those a bit nerdy too but have you seen the SR1 and S2?? They are pretty sexy plus very low noise, very little lift, bunch of additional safety features not found on other helmets. Would rather not take chances with my head!

Guess one of your main criteria is gonna be airflow, much like me.

I'll get another season from my RX7-Corsair, but please let me know what you find out about those mentioned in the real hot world :)

anybody tried Nexx helmets?? ive never heard of them to be fair untill about 5 mins ago and i read a review on MCN, they seem reasonably price, look good, are carbon and extremely light, and most important for me have a large viewing aperture.
I might give one a go.

I heard on several reviews that they're not that well finished...
Seems you're getting pretty much what you are paying for...

The Nexx is a decent helmet, if you want a carbon fiber helmet you cant beat the price vs weight of a Nexx. Only gripe I had with mine was the lack of a quick change visor system. Pinlocks are nice but not being able to change out my daytime and nighttime shields in a few seconds was a deal breaker in the end. So I sold mine, and went back to my tried and true RF-1000 until the PistaGP comes out.

@ Xbox yes airflow very important for me. Last summer rode on a few days where it hit +50 degrees celsius. So airflow and weight (less effort) are important.

I just got screwed by the guy who sells Arai here though, no f@#ing visors!!!!! I really couldn't use my old one anymore after the last sandstorm I got caught in.

So I stormed out and bought an AGV Horizon so I could go out and ride with the club. Was a cheap helmet and it's quite light, plus comes with the built in drop down tinted visor, air flow seems "ok" but it's quite noisy at speed. Lift is quite low, but you do get quite a jerk when turning your head sideways. Just FYI to anyone considering buying it.

Anyway for me it was just untill I can figure out which helmet I really want. Ideally I'd wait for the Arai PistaGP although my current experience with the dealer here makes me wary. So besides the Schubert SR1 or S2 have been doing some research and am now also considering the Bell Star Carbon (probably the RSD one)

Seems like good value and a they seem to consider their ventilation system as a big plus. Only problem I can't try it on here as no dealer so would be buying it blind on the net. Anyone tried one ???

Just a "heads up" the bell star helmet fits very different and sizing may not be the same as your current helmet.
I really like the bell star ( but honestly I haven't spent enough time with one) you really need to try them on before buying.

Do they run large or small? Or if I'm a medium Shoei, I might be a small or large Bell? What's your assessment of the quality overall, comparable to the top brands?

I think the quality is very good and ranks just under Shoie and Arai. But the inner construction is very different and fits differently.
It may take some getting used to. They seem to run about a 1/2 size larger than Shoie. I wouldn't buy one without fitting it.

I really like the helmet, I'm not as keen on the paint schemes.

Thanks Bulldog. I agree with you on the paint schemes. I think they nailed the shape, but don't have a great paint scheme yet. It's a shame too. They need to sponsor some racers, cool graphics will follow. I'll have to find a dealer to try one to see if I like the fit.

Looks good.

Anyone know where we can get some of these helmets in Oz? With appropriate Australian Standards stickers?

Hey mate I know Alida had one, did you try her ??

Hi Mate

Yeh, not the current model. Still appealing, but unfortunately a wrong head size.

I needed to be a fatter head than I am .... some may argue it would fit anyway ha ha ha

Aha.....I didnt remember what sizes where there.

I got the Ducati Corse off her.....not the top of the range, but I have found them no problems in hot weather anyway without more vents.

lol....I just go a med-large.....so I guess I have a odd head, guess it depends on how full of .... it is at the time.
