Day 1 ride...

I would be interested in your impression of the new ride vs. the 1098S since I owned one as well before getting the 1199R.

I'm still in the break-in period so I haven't felt the full power yet. Handling wise it is super flickable, feels like my wife's 848 in the turns - but with much better braking

Ergonomics-wise the riding position feels less aggressive than the 1098s (I'm 6'3") but we'll see once i get longer rides in.

Just over 400 miles in (weather has not been kind) and I don't miss the dry clutch at all.. and the quickshift is amazing :)

Couldn't agree more with the flickability and braking. I'm at 1,200 miles and love the power at and above 8K. I do get a back fire occasionally when upshifting and experience a power lag under heavy acceleration.
Any feedback on your part would be appreciated.

Where in Mass are you?

This weather blows

Haven't had backfire yet. 2 Stalls going into 1st coming into a red light.. and 3 quickshift 'misses' trying to go to 5th to 6th...

My 1st maintenance is next friday, get the HP limit removed and pipes installed then i'll be able to twist it harder :)

First thing I did when I got it home was wipe that mess off the chain.

omg, isn't that horrible? I got off to take a break and snap that picture and i couldn't believe how much that had sprayed around.

I also noticed some threads about loosening bolts... left mirror was VERY loose by the time i got home after my 1st ride (130 miles)..

I thought that was excitement all over the rear tyre!!!!!!!!
