* Sorry for the huge "default" pics!

Hows it going guys! New to Ducati's and new to this forum. Just dropping a line and saying hello. I just picked up my 1199 a week ago and drove it home before I headed up to work. Picked up a battery tender and its awaiting my arrival back home.

I work on the North Slope in ALPINE, AK 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off. I was hired as a Mechanic but sometimes just feels like I'm a "parts changer" lol. The Oil Industry is a interesting place to work.

I have a 6 year old son and a 2 year old daughter and are excited as I am to start riding that Pani. Been riding street ~10-11 years, did a little track days here back in the lower 48 and starting off in the dirt when I was younger w/my father. Previous street rides: 00' & 01' CBR 600 F4i (Stunts days), a 04' CBR600RR, a 08' R6, 09' GSXR1000 and now this 1199... Pretty big gear head when it comes to my toys and I'm looking forward to some aftermarket/custom goodies that are going on the bike. Nothing usually stays stock for long for me lol. Just wish (like you) I had more money to throw around! lol I just bought my first house so, idk how quick I can start modifying this Pani but sooner than later I hope! :D

Anyways, Nice to be here. I promise I'll utalize the search engine and google as much as possible before I start a thread! It already looks like there is a lot of helpful & friendly company here. I'm part of 1199Forums forum as well, so added together should me more than plenty of helpful info I'm looking for. ttyl!

Thanks Rocky

welcome Rocky........AK....awesome! one of the places high on the list for me to visit!

Welcome!! Very Cool Alaska, total opposite of me !!

I'll have to be a total ignoramus and ask silly questions as to how that's like.

How many months can you ride per year? Tires with studs on them??? How in heavens name do you warm up your supercorsas in that weather??

Probably stupid questions, but all I know about Alaska is from "Ice road Truckers" on Discovery. It looks really cold and I have little to no concept of what that is like.

What a great start! :D

If you like Camping, Hunting, Biking, Trails, Fishing, Rafting, Panning, Bow hunting, sight seeing, great friendly people and A LOT of street bikes then this would be a great place to visit! The anual "bike blessings" are a huge hit!

lol! Well... lets see... hmm mid/end of April, May, June, July, Aug, Sept...ish... sucks is I work 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off so I personally only get half those...grrrr. but I think of it as only paying half price for the fuel cause i'm using it half the time lol. I tell you what though, it's going to be hard to get it to 621miles if I don't go on a little road trip over the weekend! and no studs! Summers get any where from ~60's to 70/80s depending. :) been raining a lot though... I guess thats what "wet" modes for. :p

welcome,
oh well, at least you dont have to deal with the heat under the seat :p

The ~3 miles I do have on the bike... I still felt it lol. Def not as much as some of you guys though.

Welcome and congrats Rocky!
Alaska huh? Is there a dealership there? I just noticed that the dealership I bought mine from in Portland, OR sold a 1199 Tri to an Alaskan resident. Would that be you? If not, good luck and have fun riding.
There's lots of good info and opinions here in the forum. Enjoy!

Grats on the new ride sir. I lived in Kodiak for 5 years, and am headed up there Thursday :)

Enjoy the beast! And I hope your garage is heated haha

Welcome Rocky, enjoy your Duc riding through some of that spectacular scenery.

I spent a couple of summers in the SE part of Alaska, Sitka, Ketchican and Prince of Wales Island and loved it.....how I miss all the ways you can eat Salmon:D

Welcome and congratulations!

Thank You Sir! I appreciate the welcome! I'm excited!

nope not me. Thats good to know that theres a tri out there somewhere... I'm jelly already! lol I cought the last Pani on th show room and it was really all I could afford. Another ~$5k for the S or ~$8k-$9k for a Tri is really out of my bdget lol. I just bought a house last month so this was kind of a once and a life time opportunity to have my first Duc. I figure, a BMC Race filter, Termi Slip On's a TTX and maybe some nice Forged Mag OZ wheels I should be good to go with the rest of them! The LED headlight and DDS system would be nice though as well. Thanks for the great welcome!

Nice! Love that area! so many fun things to do here! Still might be hard to get to 621 with so little time home working on the slope though! My son was wondering if a car seat could fit in the back! So I'm sure he's going to take up most of my time home. :p And yes Sir, she's heated and ready for me!
