The touring bike holds the track record at the Ridge and also the WMRRA number 1 plate. The R1 came in 3rd.
It all comes down to the rider and how you fit with the bike. Ride the R1 and see which feels more natural to you.

What's wrong with the your current 1199 as your track bike? Some of us here track them and all is well. Plus it's just an old .... box so when you crash it won't matter!

Here is the real deal Thamer. My 1199 is due for 15k service. There is no way on earth I am paying 3 grand for that. Also my 600 ninja needs about 3000 worth of suspension work for me to get faster. My suspension is stock set up for about 175 lb rider. Im 225 without gear. Right there to keep both is 6k. If I sell both I'm about at cost of a new bike.
I want the v4 but I want an R. Next year the R comes out. I'll wait till the following year. To get it after the hoopla you can get deals or a used one. I wont make the same mistake with Ducati twice.

I don't remember the exact price, but the 15,000 service on my 1199 was around $1,000.

thats what i really want to do but im nearing the 15k service and i am no way paying ducati for a 3k dollar service. 1000 dollars i keep it i will have to look into it much more. i am being told its 24 book hours for the service. at 135 an hour thats 3240 and thats out of the question. id rather buy a new bike then get ripped off.
instead of guessing i will call the dealer and report back.

See if you can find an independent mechanic that works on them. The one local to me is significantly less than the dealer, and actually knows what he is doing.

it all comes down to this. do you keep a 6 year old bike that you can get decent money for and add a few bucks to it and get the latest and greatest. with selling my track bike and trading in the panigale im at the price of a new r1 anyway give or take.

No. It all comes down to what you want. Your ambivalence is in fact ridiculous. You will have great time riding any superbike of the past decade and beyond. You will spend the money on whatever you fancy or think is not up to the standard your skills demand  You don't wanna be reasonable do you? It is about purchasing a toy. Make up your mind!

Going to be hard to convince a Ducati forum that an R1 is the right choice, although I have seen you go to usual lengths in the pursuit of convincing others of your own perspective :) Anyway good luck with that.

Just buy it, who gives a .... what we think anyway.

Don't waste your money. Even if you could afford an HP4 Race, with your fat ... on it you will still be slow. It's not too late to turn your life around, you don't have to be fat and ashamed of the way you look. No amount of motorcycles will ever fix your self-esteem problems. PM me, I can help.

who said anything about hp4 race but yea i would love your help why dont you send me your number and address and ill stop by we can talk.

well i pulled the trigger got a 2015 r1 with ultra low miles. ducati is for sale listed in the forum. already sold the ninja wont post the pics grrrr

Dude on the wera board is selling a „godzilla“ rsv4 w. 202 RWHO

Definitely ask about the bazazz TC system on that bike when checking it out.

I looked at it...sweet bike but I have a 2010 with the Bazzaz as well. Not as good as the newer bikes with the Aprilia aPRC electronics but this bike is clearly not your off the street package so maybe it's got some speacial mapping.
