One month in, and I've burned off a whole rear tyre.

There are various posts about various tyres, but it's not clear, so my questions are:

1. I presume most folk stick to the Pirelli Diablo Corsas fitted as standard?
2. What is a typical price for these? Amazon says £134 + delivery
3. Do other 200 section rears exist? (it doesn't look like it)
4. What's the greatest mileage you've got out of a tyre?
5. How long do the fronts last?

P.S. there is something seriously wrong with the spell checker :p

i have always been on SC, and been happy, all the fast guys on my group run it at the track.
there is other options out there, grip aside, tire feel is rather personal. you would have to try it to see if you like it
$400 for a pair at my local shop

I would try a set of q3's they are a great all round tire and good value, for $200ish a set you really can't beat them

I bought an extra set of wheels for my bike and mounted a set of Pirelli Angel GTs for street use. Great grip and longer life. I've been keeping the SCs mounted to the original wheels for the track.

Continental Sport attack 2. I'm trying a new set of these for the first time, for my up coming 2 week trip down into California, they come in the 200 rear.

as someone has said earlier tire is personal choice. dont always go by the tire size there is 10mm that it can be between.

dunlop q3 width size 190/55 is actually 193.5 mm
pirelli 200/55 is actually 193 mm

rear tire only 290 from revzilla
q3 250 or so for the set

the pirelli is a taller tire.

just for info purposes the michilin 190/55 are actually 187 or 188 mm i forgot

the bridgestone 190 is actually 198mm i think in width

i think the dunlop is better than the pirelli unless you are very advanced but then you would want the sc not the sp or slicks.

again TRACK ONLY PRESSURE FOR THE Q3. THIS CAME STRAIGHT FROM DUNLOP

the best way to set your tire pressure is to start with 33 psi cold front and 31 psi cold rear. do a track session then as soon as you come off the track check your pressure again and adjust them to 35 front and 34 rear . dont be afraid to +- 2psi depending on how polished your track surface is. lower psi for more polished higher psi for more course tracks.

tire warmers are not needed as the q3 heats up so quickly. only time tire warmers would be a benefit is 40 F or less in the morning.

this came from the consumer affairs dept. at dunlop. you can call dunlop and they will send you this email. i paraphrased some of it. hope this helps.

I am runnig these also, although on my 675R... The wear and grip is fine but the profile of the rear tire is not a supersport tire. the 180/55 is more like a 190/50.. really slows the steering down

Phoned my local tyre place and they didn't have the supercorsa in stock. He reckons he normally keeps one but sold it this week. Phoned ducati Manchester and they didn't have any either!! This baffles me somewhat. If I didn't get a tyre today I'd be stuck for at least a week so I put a s20 evo on it. They needed to gun the nut off!

Well I put a set of these on for my Cali trip as noted above, mainly because they are way cheaper than the SC's and the reviews were pretty dam good, also they are made in Germany same as the Super Corsas. Im a fairly aggressive street rider, and my chicken strips are usually 1/2 way across the edge lettering on Supecorsas. Anyways on the good twisty roads in Washington, Oregon and Cali (including Hwy36), they performed excellent, infact I couldn't tell the difference, I had no traction control problems (which was left as normal. Then we rode across, Nevada, Utah, and back up thru Idaho, we did a lot of this on very hot and, very long straight roads, the tires took an extreme beating especially in the centre but they held up better than I expected. Both Tires were new when I left, and 7,000kms (4350 miles) the back tire was shagged, the edges were fine but the middle was flat, very flat like a car tire...lol. The front is still good which I find amazing, it does have a flat in the middle, but I reckon I have 50% left. As a result of this ride, I have bought another Conti Sport Attack 2 to replace the rear. Just for info the whole ride was done in Race mode.

i've run the pirellis that cam standard, the lasted about 3500miles, including 2 track days and a trip to the isle of man, they lasted real well, i mean i did go until they were way past due but still great tyres, plenty of grip for all types of riding.

the start of this year i ran a set of michelin power cups, i had a soft on the front and a medium compound on the rear. these were amazing at track days endless amounts grip in the dry, and adequate in the wet, not that i would push it in the wet anyway. they did a track day and trip to the isle of man but were pretty much shedding the carcass by the time i arrived home, about 1000miles, the front has plenty more tread left, it currently on my standard wheels as a back up.

i'm currently running a pair of continental race attacks, i have an endurance on the rear and a medium on the front. ive not done many miles on them yet but they seem great, especially for the money. i paid £230 for the pair.

Supercorsa SP V2 any day. Lasted 8000km, including trackdays. Confident as anything, fast, good grip, fair enough to get up to temperature. I don't see a reason to change to something else, unless it's for proper racing and you need slicks..
