New rear tyre required

You don't have to, but it takes about three four laps to warm up. Using warmers is definitely recommended and a lot more desirable.
I had sc1/2 on my bike a few times and I even use them to commute and weekend riding just fine, but yes the feeling is not ideal.
So yeah, warmers is not mandatory, take extra care warming then up, and definitely ideal to use warmers.

SC's and Q3's are the tires most run on these bikes.

We would all run SC's except price.

The Q3 is such a great value and perform so well for those who have street legal bikes, no other tire really makes sense.

I get Dunlops at import pricing, nearly half what I pay for Pirellis at dealer cost and I still run the SCs. Nothing beats them for grip in the dry.

Q3s all day! I easily get 2500-3000mi out of mine, and that's strictly spirited rides in the backroads. I did one track day on them too, worked excellent.

Have some new Bridgestone S20 Evo's i will be putting on, as with their pricing and rebates they had it was a no brainer..

$195 for the front and a 200/55 rear.. although from what i have heard from friends, the back will have about 1400 quality miles before the middle is flat squared off, and then capable of another 500 or so miles. the front is capable of 3500-4000 miles.

Going to be using the T30 rear with the s20 evo front, for the street...

Someone mentioned the pirelli angels, i would strongly consider this tire an option for only commuting, as the profile is very flat and makes for hard work in the twisties, but they do have great grip. Have them on my Triumph 675R only until i can get them off, ruined the handling of the bike.

My only complaint about the SC2s are the price and I go through a rear every two trackdays now. I don't know anything different though as that's all I've run on this bike. They aren't good in rain, but can be ridden in moderate wet if you just slow it down a bit. In the dry I've never had a complaint!

You see this is where tire threads are all over the place.

I've run about 4 rear Q3's and 2 fronts on my Tuono, love them, but I can't get more than 1800 miles out of the rear, and I mostly pussy foot along in a straight line. If I hammered them, I'd be lucky to get 1200 out of a rear.

(I wonder if the extra wind resistance, on my naked bike, has significant impact on the tire wear?)
