New recall - fuel cap

It's an issue with mine, went to refuel after riding on a fairly warm day (90'F) and was somewhat shocked by the pressure that was released. Of course I mentioned it to the service manager, and his response was "oh, that's normal"; I told him I had never observed this pressure before on this bike or my previous bikes.
 
Yes my cap was leaking also! I took off the Rizmoa one that came with the bike and put a REM on it and its better but still building pressure for sure!
 
I wonder if we can get the charcoal canister removed and not have it void the warranty.

I wish but no way. It's an emissions deal and the dealer won't touch it because they could open themselves up to a ton of issues if they did. I was talking to my dealer about the recall fix and he told me what the repair is. All they do is take off the cap and underneath it there is two torque bit screws. Take them out and open it up and you'll see a little ball check valve in there. Remove that and reinstall it and your good to go. Or so Ducati thinks. But I replaced my cap with a REM and it does away with the ball check valve and it still has the pressure issue. Meaning the tank is building pressure and the hoses to the charcoal can are not venting properly. I guess the by removing the ball will help relieve the pressure but that ball is not what's creating the issue in the first place. I'm thinking I will remove the charcoal canister and all the emissions BS and just take the two tank hoses and run them to the bottom of the fairings and that should solve the issue.

your dealer is what we like to call stealerships. I had my 1199 charcoal removed, and my V4R with no issues from different dealers (and the akra requires it gone). I also know many of people who have had the dealers remove them. Granted, in florida, we do not run emissions, so its not a real concern... so that could be the difference. But i wonder how people in states with emissions have the full akra on the V4 pass emissions? i know the exhaust is explicitly off road use only, but... if you have it tagged, you would have to have emissions done in those states right?

I know we have no issues with removal down here, and its the best, easiest thing that every ducati should have done before you bring it home

Both are right. I'm in California, and the dealer removed mine with the Akra install. It and all the other stock parts are in boxes.

The akra instructions have you capping off the charcoal canister line. I wonder if it would be better to leave it open. Did anyone who installed their akra leave the line open instead of capping?
