New timing/speed sensor

I think (hope) my timing sensor was faulty,so got a new one coming tomorrow but does it need to be calibrated in any form or does it just work straight off

There's a distance it has to be from the phonic wheel. Measure the existing one and make sure the replacement is the same. There's likely some thin metal shims to get the distance right.

Ok great,so it just needs gapping

Yup. I don’t remember there being an adaptive value in the ECU for it.
