I have a base 1299, in race mode the orange side stand warning goes to ABS front only when I ride? I was fiddling with the settings have I done something to disable the rear ABS? I have looked at the book but cannot find out if this is correct or if it's normal.

Any help will be appreciated.

You did do something! Put it in race mode :)

Race mode "turns off" rear ABS.

Within race mode you can go in and edit your settings, suspension, TC, EBC etc... If memory serves me right you need to turn up your TC to active rear ABS. At least that's how it worked on my 1199.

from the owners manual:

ABS
The vehicle is equipped with ABS and the instrument panel displays the box with ABS status.
The instrument panel displays:
- if ABS is active, ABS indication and intervention level number (1 to 3) (steadily);
- if ABS is active, but system is in degraded operation due to a fault (no "cornering" feature"), ABS lettering and the ABS intervention level number, 1 to 8 (flashing); also the ABS warning light starts flashing;
- if ABS is disabled, ABS OFF indication and ABS light turns steady on;
- if ABS is in fault, ABS --- indication; the ABS (steadily) and Generic Error lights turn on as well and the corresponding error is displayed.
Note
ABS 1 indication is always associated with the icon ABS FRONT ONLY displayed on amber background. This indication is displayed in the area where side stand status is, and the side stand status information has higher priority.
Attention
In case of system fault, contact a Ducati Dealer or Authorized Service Center.

Race mode default is abs 1. This is front abs only. If you want front and rear abs in race mode, go to settings, race, abs, and select abs 2.

Thanks Guys appreciate the help.

Thought I accidentally programmed some setting, still learning this beast

No worries. I spent four hours in the garage reading the manual and going everything when I got mine.

I altered my race mode it might as well be called standard lol turned up all the aids on in that mode I'm a ..... :)

I know it sounds passive and overly simple but...really....refer to your owners manual.

My owners manual is a heap of ...., the pages just fall out, I also can't see where it says that on race mode default the orange warning will be illuminated.

But now that we are on it the owners manual says on the suspension set up the front spring pre load must be fully out (anti clockwise) then it says 6 turns? Yet fully out is 8 turns? So I must confess I'm not very good with things and prefect getting solid advise from guys who are gurus in the product.

My question was answered almost immediately by forum members who are schooled
Another thing I can't work out with the manual is the chain tension, fuc it's confusing

On the street a always run RACE mode.. I have the Akropovic exhaust and the :Up Map" so it likes the RACE setting the best.. I run it in RACE mode at all times (street or track) I got used to it and cannot see how it would work well any other way since I like to know how it will respond every time. I want consistency. The best throttle setting is controlled by your right wrist...:)
On the street
I set the ABS at level 2 Engine braking at level 1
Traction control level 3 Wheelie control off.. ( Me likes to wheelie )LOL

ON track I usually run level 3 on Wheelie (Out of necessity)
I leave it on level 3 for TC (Some times level 2 depending on track surfaces and temperature) Engine braking is always on level 1 street or track... I like a lot of engine braking

ABS in level 3 is good if you like the cornering function... Especially if the track is flowing and doesn't need a lot of heavy braking from the straights Tracks like TWS are a good example.....

The higher you set the TC the more intervention and the slower you get coming out of the corners. The bike puts out a LOT of torque and will easily overcome the rear tires capability of traction without some degree of TC set Therefore I dial in some just to keep the front wheel reasonable low when accelerating hard down the straight.. With aggressive throttle the front end is usually just skimming the surface most of the way down the straight.. Besides I like to step our the rear sometimes coming out of some of the corners..:)

I wish mine ran better in town but alas it will probably never have good throttle response and I seldom ride it anymore.. I have posted about this ad nauseum On the track, it is OK but cruising around in town t 35 to 45 mph is terrible with surging and stalling issues.. it will never be right no one can figure it out..
