Hello,

I am new to the forum, from the Seattle area. Just traded my 2020 BMW S1000RR for a V2 Bayliss. The stickers!

I have tried several Ducatis in the past -- 848 Streetfighter, 939 Supersport, Panigale V4, and a Scrambler. The V2 is the first Ducati that felt right. I've had more powerful bikes -- a couple of S1000RR's, a Tuono, and I've tracked an RSV4, but I don't think of this move as a downgrade. Lately, I found myself more interested in "characterful" bikes. Let's hope that the V2 has more character than temper. Bike is new; I just applied ceramic coating and impatiently circling the bike waiting for it to cure so I can continue breaking it in.

Hope to learn from you all.

Hey welcome to the forum. Photos of the bike is a must. That is a very particular bike you've got. Nice choice.
I was just running around with some really great guys from Washington & Oregon. I hear there is an outstanding track in the southern part of Washington. Ridge I believe? You ever ride there?

The Ridge is indeed a great track. I am not a frequent track day rider, but the several times I've been there I really liked it.

The Ohlins suspension is so nice. The electronic suspension on my BMW was so hard, yet I bottomed it on hard braking. The Ohlins is so much more comfortable, and still I have not bottomed yet.

This seems as good a palce as any to ask this.. Been searching with no luck so far... I'm trying to figure out if the Ohlins on the bayliss is the same as as buying 'aftermarket' ohlins shock and fork/cartridges? Ie. OEM hasn't dumbed them down at all/ skimped on componants.

Right.. I wondered about that.. I can likely find a non-bayliss at enough of a discount to buy the race ohlins stuff and be around the same price.. that sounds like the better option.

Hard to know. They work really well, is all I can say. If you don't care for the stickers, get a base edition and put cartridges. How heavy/fast are you?

I like the damping of the Ohlins; it soaks up undulations really well; the only thing I wish was better is absorption of small fast rough patches on the road, but on a smoother surface, is is just lovely. It plays well with the overall character of the bike -- it seems to prefer a more gentle handling. I am 180 lbs geared up, and am slow intermediate. Out of the box, the Ohlins was just about perfect for me. The only adjustment I did was adding 1 click damping. I have the bike for 3k miles and start to use the full range of the suspension, so I would think that you'd probably need heavier springs, so you'd have to make some changes even if you go with the factory Ohlins.
