Hi, has anyone from NZ had the sprocket change letter yet?
Or Australia, I think we deal with the same importer.

Cheers

Norm Fraser mate, Yep the same importer.

I have not received a letter but just approached my dealer and ordered the sprocket update.

It is not a mandatory issue so you may never get the letter.

Sprocket upgrade at cost price.

Not me, fairly happy with the gearing ATM, however still running in, 300kms to go so will see what she's like when I can really open her up. I find the gearing not to bad around town ATM, however more low down acceleration/torque would be awesome.

Carl that's what you get with the 41 tooth sprocket, better acceleration all through the rev range and just a little shaved off the top speed. That's why the R revs 500rpm more, to counter the small drop in road speed by going from 39 - 41 teeth!

So it will wheelie even more easily under acceleration!!!! Awesome. Might be on the agender then (will discuss with Casbolts), as we dont really have roads in NZ that we can crack 300kms for long periods of time the taller gearing is not really needed. Went for a casual ride today to Diamond Harbor as we are having awesome Autum days down here ATM, lots of twistys etc with amazing scenery, gave her an open up on the Teddington straight, approx 3kms long with a nice 75kms marked kink half way down, didnt actually realise until I looked at the speedo that I hit 225kms/hr (I knew I was going reasonably quick but not that speed), engine note said she was hardly working. Only a week before first service now so will be able to really see what there is to offer. I am impressed with the power delivery now and as others have stated that 8k mark will leave you breathless and smiling ear to ear. Cant wait.

Don't forget cost of new chain, making not really a cheap exercise

My dealer in Adelaide quoted $300 for chain and sprocket, $100 for labour.
I was lucky enough to be offered a new chain and procket off an 1199R, so the dealer loaded the engine map for free.
