Nice fuel caps: comparison

Since I do not like the OEM fuel cap (because of its weight and design), I checked some non-ROC high quality aftermarket products both for the Tri and the SL. Actually the fuel tanks are identical between those bikes.

During 25 years of riding I never had any problem with fuel caps that cannot be locked. So this is not of any concern to me.

Finally the race was between Ducabike and Evotech. Rizoma was too unpratical, although design is good.

Ducabike is very clean/minimalistic in design, it uses the OEM plastic ring below with the vent valve. It needs a CF made key to open. That's what I found to be very unpratical.

Evotech is heavier, very nicely milled out from a solid piece of aluminium, has a very pratical closing mechanism, and its row-milled design fits to my mirror block-off plates and the tail tidy that is going to be installed this week.

i have the lightech spin cap on the hp4 and the tamburini corsa on the 1199. i have a cnc black and carbon keyed cap also if you want to buy it

I'm looking at the DP or the CNC Racing version. Pity I don't have the money for the upgraded tank as well.

I installed the DP one the other day.

Looks great and has a good positive locking system.

I put the DP cap on my SL. I can take a pic if any of you want to see it installed. I like it far better than any of the options in the OP (though the CNC option isn't bad)

the tamburini option imo is the best thats why i got it. its expensive as hell but also comes with a locking top that you can switch out

I have the DP cap....Works great..But I reserve my love for things worthy of it... :)

I have a Carbon Fibre and Billet Aluminium cap from Austin Racing and am very happy with it. I am currently in Najaf, Iraq so you will have to be content with a pic of the cap mounted on the Dragon ....'s previous tank (if it uploads). :D

i rate Rizoma the only thing i don't like about it is the hole size is the same as stock

Do any of you DP cap owners have a hard time removing the cap with your gloves on? It spins and unlocks just fine, but my giant bear paws seem to have a hard time gripping the lip/handle to pull it out due in part to the weight and the way it fits in there so snug.

Just curious if I'm the only one (and I suck through so much gas I try to make fueling up as quick/efficient as possible)

Never tried it with gloves on...Gas stops are a time for re-hydration and some stretching for me...so I am in no rush... :)

I have the ducabike, and you can screw the CF key onto it so its stays there and you don't have to carry the key around. Very practical. Gecko, try that and you may find the DB better that the other option.

..same here...gloves (or at least 1 glove) is off to get to the credit card, so the cap comes off easy-peasy
