Hi folks,
Short version:
I have picked up an 1199 with some messed up harness wiring around the headstock. Does anybody have access to a colour coded wiring diagram to help in correcting and fixing this?
Detailed version:
I've recently picked up a 13 1199S, and found on test ride that I had no indicators and no horn. The indicator switch works to change modes, but no activation of front/rear indicators nor visibility on the dash, however, other functions such as high beam flasher is working on the switch block.
After some investigating, I found what looks like a bit of a wiring headache. The bike looks to have had the RCL-14-001 indicator wiring recall and has the additional harness installed, however, you'll note a key difference between the harness provided and my harness:
As provided:
My harness:
The large grey plug is not part of the factory harness, however, is present on the main harness of the bike, per below:
I did also find this fun little tid-bit in the rear seat. Implying to me that when installing the sub-harness, a previous owner broke the bike-side harness connector, and then re-pinned a completely different connector to do the job, clearly unsuccessfully:
I have ordered a fresh adaptor harness, and looks like I'll need to re-head and re-pin the bike side of the harness to the appropriate connector once again. However, the thing I'm struggling with is that despite this clear ....-up on behalf of the previous owner, the pinning from both sides appears to be correct and it is unclear to me why the bike has no indicators whatsoever.
I am curious if anyone has access to a coloured wiring diagram so that I can reverse engineer these connections and see if I can understand what the root cause of this issue may be?
As noted above, I have also seen the horn doesn't appear to work at all and found the below cables hanging around doing nothing. My assumption is these are the horn cables if anyone can confirm?
My final concern is if the indicator relay has somehow been shorted via this dodgy job, which I understand is within the dashboard. Can anyone advise if this is repairable? Or is it a whole new dash to resolve?
Appreciate any help or advice that may be viable! Thanks all.
