No more Superquadro engine !

Ducati Forum

Help Support Ducati Forum:

That article is a year old. Frankly, the Ducati v4 is almost the same level unicorn as the Honda V4. I'll believe it when I see it.

It's gonna happen. I've been saying it since the 1098 was new. Lol and then every release I'm sad....

Jup, agree. My dealer (lagest Ducati dealer in Europe) also confirmed it. Will probably have tiptronic (Audi) as well. I said it before somewhere in this forum; the main reason the 90 Ani version is launched is because a new Pani is coming up.

Are there any limitations in the WSBK homologation rules from using a different configuration or is this a decision of the manufacturer?

Pretty sure the rules are as follows: 4 cylinders (I4 and V4's) are to have a maximum capacity of 1000cc, where as 2 cylinders are capped at 1200cc

Not sure why Ducati would backtrack on a proven, lightweight design... But I guess we'll have to wait and see! If it does happen, I'll be glad to own the last of the frameless, Superquadro engine!

Just my gut, but if Ducati ever did decide to abandon the 2 cylinder engines in favor of 4 for their production bikes, they'd likely have to abandon the desmodromic valve train as well. Maintenance on that would be costly....32 shims to inspect/replace.

I think the onion has been moonlighting

Quote: "As for the bikes themselves, having a 1,000cc engine inside a superbike instead of the current 1,199cc or 1,299cc displacement should also make them lighter, with a better power-to-weight ratio, and we all know what this variable can do... "

Literally the most ignorant thing I've ever read on the internet ^
V4's tend to be heavier than Ltwins but you can simply engineer better power to weight advantages it just costs money. you cannot however outpower displacement with more thinking, all things being equal . I.E. there is no replacement for displacement

the truth is that 600cc sport bikes cost as much as 1000cc sport bikes to produce. the size of the hole in the cylinder is not the element for cost difference tween the 1000 and 600cc bikes. Its simply all the other stuff that makes up the bike.
its also IMO the reason Honda has abandoned the 600cc market.

If you guys want a V4 so bad buy an aprilia V4's will only cause you more weight and maintenance A V4 ducati will not produce more power and more reliability . the priller pick two : power/weight ratio , reliability , V4

I'll clue you in on another secret V4's are wider than Ltwins. I know that is a hard concept to grasp .

I absolutely dig the V4 engine/exhaust note and absolutely loathe its weight!

Porsche rubbish's rumor of Ferrari's blah blah blah..... I don't think that's comparable to an actual interview with the PRESIDENT of Ducati, being asked a direct question, and then providing a direct, unequivocal answer.

True.. but he said specific 2017..

btw I really like the aprilia rsv4 my point was that the article was written by a tool who thinks the ducati is underpowered. people need to get a grip 205 hp and 105 lb*fp of torque is incredible I don't know where people lost their minds or lost touch with reality but the numbers are so astoundingly high right now and people act like it is minuscule scooter power.
Its like when people say the ducati is faster than the aprilia or the bmw is faster than the kawasaki . it silly.
faster in a drag race is irrelevant in road racing and it drives me crazy when people talk 1/4 mile times down to the hundredth of a second.

If you ride a panigale you're riding a bike every bit as high tech, high horsepower, and wound up- as the million dollar gp bikes from just a few years ago.
