Guys,

There is a chance I maya be relocated to NYC for work. My wife would like to live in the city. I have my 1199 and a kendon trailer. I would probably go track only.

What do you guys who live in the city do with your bikes and trailers?

I want reasonably easy access so that I can get them to do track days.

Thanks

depending on neighborhood, it will run you about $175-250/mo for parking bike. the trailer will be charged as a car and will run from $400-900/mo.

you should hit up Rider's Alley- a motorcycle only garage; they trailer bikes out to track days so you may want to consider losing the kendon- but it all depends where in the city you'll end up: Rider's Alley

and your wife is right: best city to live in ;)

Dont come to nyc. Its a sespool of crap. ive lived here my whole life and work downtown manhatten. Its overpriced dirty and full of tourists. the cost of living is insanely high. the taxes are out of control and your vote counts for nothing as libs run the city. Ive been trying to get out for a few years now but hard to find a job in tax, gun friendly states in this "recovery."

almost forgot the roads are terrible and the nearest track is 2.5 hours away down in nj. or 3 hours away in pa. There is one upstate but i think thats 4 hours away. If you have crazy money i think you can join the private one in Monticello.

Oh your from mass, so your a lib come right on down you will fit in with all the other libs wrecking the city

i don't really believe in truths per se, but it's a matter of perspective. i stay away from downtown, yes that's true. the road conditions in actual city are plain dangerous for riding motorcycles, that too is true. but i live in heart of city in a neighborhood i love...and this is the only place i feel at home....

as for ........: i guess i default into the Factualist party, ergo i despise all party affiliation and binary thinking; libs i know well are pretty open minded tho...

tell me what part is untrue though

the only part of my post that is in question is if the OP is a lib. I just assumed coming from Maaathas vinyard you know. lol

to the OP if you are a constitution loving american trust me you wont like it here and the novelty of living in manhatten will wear off when it takes you 1 hr to drive 6 blocks or when the bums oh im sorry (PC street dwellers) get mad at you for not giving them a quarter.

i guess i'm the outlier: i am a constitution loving patriot, and as such i'm tolerant of others...and i like the pervy lib chicks, sometimes 2 at a time.

open minded really? yea they are open to spending YOUR money on their programs and deciding what goes where away from their neighborhood. if you disagree then they are not open minded toward you.

anyway vast where do you ride. i usually go north on the garden state to the ny thruway up to say west point.

i rode pretty much where you do. bear mt area as well. Marcus Dairy. etc.

i guess you can't always have it all: i pay the price for living in my city. perhaps it's too steep a price for some, but i love it here, esp the central park walks at 1am....

Thanks for the info guys.

Mark, I hear what you are saying, but it would mean a pretty significant promotion for me so, it is what it is.

I don't want to be beholden to anyone when doing track days, so is it possible to park the fold up trailer at the end of my car spot, against the wall?

Should I just rent a storage unit a bit outside of the city?

If I do end up getting the job, we'll all have to go for a ride.

BTW- New York Safety Track is only 2 hours away, not too bad...

I am actually going there this weekend to check it out.

I am not a liberal, but I am not a gun toting conservative either.

I am a fiscal conservative...

I think I would rather try to live outside the city, but my wife really wants to be in.

VAST, do you have kids? any experience with the public schools in manhattan or brooklyn?

if you find a decent garage, then yes it may be possible to store against wall, assuming you're paying for a car spot. problem is, parking spaces a lot of time are measured in inches and spaces are close to full capacity -- so you'll need to look = very location dependent. where in city are you considering?

you can rent storage spaces outside city, hell you can eve put your bike into it: that should run you around $75/mo or so. same storage space in city would run $200-300/mo and access is a ....., as are times, unless you go the 24hr route.

good luck with your new job!

ny safety track never heard of that but i just looked it up pretty cool. i was talking about nj motorsports park. or the Pocono race track. plus the one by oneonta.

good luck on your decision and promotion. im more libertarian as i dont care what you do or who you do it with as long as you leave me alone and stop trying to take whats mine to give it away.

lastly ny safety track is 3.5 hours away not 2 hours away. so nj motorsports park is closer
