Oil leak worrisome?

Hi all,
I just wanted to run this by you guys since I'm not used to it on my previous bike. Every time I track the bike, a small amount of oil will leak from the overflow tube on the left side of the bike, top of engine, picture attached. This becomes significant enough to where I have to wipe off the oil that dribbled onto the fairing after each 15-20 minute run. I took the bike back to the dealer and they refitted the OEM hose clamp with something better but they also told me this is normal and that I would probably see it again when the bike is really hot. Just wondering if you guys agree or if I should be concerned..

This looks like coolant leaking. This has happen to my bike several time. Usually the stock color of the coolant appear pinkish in color. So I guessing the stock coolant has been changed.

no thats looks like oil. Pretty sure it is.

I dont think that's normal... it should not come out like that and enough to drip to fairings or floor.

I ran my R race school track for 2 days at 115 degree weather with 150 track temp and it was fine.

It's definitely oil, not coolant. Anyone else ever experience this?

How many times do we read threads where dealers are constantly claiming such symptoms are "normal". They most definitely are not. ANY leak is to be regarded as abnormal if it is this apparent. This is a common area for the now "infamous coolant leak" so oil leaking from here is somewhat less so. If the oil is leaking from the airbox drain, as this picture seems to demonstrate, then some further investigation is warranted.

Probably the rubber "funnels" going from the airbox to the crank case. Was a recall bulletin on the 1199 on these, got them changed when I got my engine rebuilt...

Well this is troublesome, guess I'll have to go back and see what they say. They definitely said a little oil coming out when I'm pushing it hot would happen though...bs?

I've had a very small amount of coolant leak on hot Texas tracks in 100+ temps, but this looks a bit excessive. I'd definitely get a second opinion.

OK fellas, so I finally got the call from the Ducati mechanic after bringing it back for a second look. They confirmed there is a 'service bulletin' per Ducati out there, not to be confused with a 'recall'. It's a known issue and Ducati have released a kit that fixes the issue. The only problem is that the kit is on backorder so I have to wait a little. Also of note, since it is not a recall, it's not covered unless your bike is under warranty. Sounds super sketchy because they told me it's not an actual recall since it's not safety related but I think with modern bikes, any oil leak should be considered a safety concern. Just a heads up if anyone out there is also having the issue.

Thanks for the info. So, being a service bulletin, does this mean you could take a bike that is under warranty but not currently showing any signs of the leak and still have this done under warranty? Or maybe the kit is only useful on bikes showing signs of the problem.
Reason I ask is I have until January until my warranty expires. Before that time I'm going to have the common coolant leak fixed (again). If this is something that could be done as well, I'd tell them to go for it.
Thanks again for the information

Not sure about that but I would definitely try for it if I were you. I'll keep you guys posted on how the fix goes.

This exact thing happened to me on my 1199.
They replaced the valve cover seal and everything was fine after that.
