Our member came to the rescue on QS (Thank you to Endodoc!)

Achieving zero play in the assembly involved rectifying several issues. The shift shaft (gear change mechanism) fit in the gearbox control cover is sloppy. It is not a precision fit in the cover and it moves around a bit. They make shaft a stabilization bracket for a few of the bikes but not for the Duc. I machined the cover to accept a precision fit bearing assembly rectifying that piece. Next is the QS itself. Ducati and TL use a micro-switch arrangement which by design, mandates movement, unlike a true strain gauge load cell which has no movement so a SG setup is going to further eliminate shift linkage movement. Last but not least are the rear-sets. We have tried a bunch of them. I stress simplicity and robustness. I am not a big fan of complex designs that incorporate multiple linkage points. This just adds complexity and there are more mechanical points for movement. Also, get something with precision bearing construction. All-time favorite rear-sets are Attack but they didn't make them for the 99s. I chose lightech because they met the criteria. They are extremely simple and very precise. With this setup, I have achieved a zero play system
