I do agree with you.. a street legal bike with oem exhausts that you can't race in a private track? What's wrong here? so stupid rules.. you can probably ride with open straight pipes on the streets with no problems but not with oem exhaust on a track

Do you have any more pictures and details of this ? I presume he has done both sides and its damn ugly but if it means it can pass noise regulations without taking away as much power as the baffles then I might look into doing something like this.

Something that has just occurred to me, tried the other engine power settings? I know it's a real dampener if it's in wet mode (see what I did there?) but it may help? Even just from race to sport? EBC on the run in to corners, if thats where the traps are?

I use wet mode when doing the static tests as it helps a bit, but definitely would not run it at the track as it's a complete waste of time riding with it. Sport mode is not so bad but I don't even use that on the road either as the bike doesn't ride as well. The geometry and suspension works better with a sharper throttle in my opinion.
I bought the BMW so I had something quieter but I'd rather be on the Pani hence why this is an interesting thread. I don't mind holding back the rpm for the odd drive by sensor but wouldn't want to be doing it everywhere.

It's what I thought and I agree with you. But a quiet day is better than no day!!

Plan for bike was full time track bike during the track season this year, with the possibility to try a little racing here and there.
Bodywork and tank have been exchanged, extra wheels bought, lights gone etc. (This could always be reversed for street use with a day on the bench.)

We have no static testing here so no chance of sneaking through on lower power maps.
It's pointless to run a bike like this with its balls cut off, just to satisfy noise regs, once riding for lap times.

I hope that the Termi underseat system is as quiet as their customer support, (3 mails, no
response), as I think that's the way I will head for now, due to tight timeframe.
Will keep the forum posted with pass/fail @ 105db after my next track sessions, but
I expect that my 1098R will be coming out to play before the summer is over.

Termi customer support is a big joke! I have tried to contact them 5-6 times via their internet site, upmap site and boths facebook pages to get some information about T800 unit and upcoming termi maps. I did never get any response and gave up on that...

Glenn, not sure where you got to with this?

Anyway, the more I hear about the V4 the less I'm convinced about getting one. So I'm now looking to keep my R for the forseable future. That means I'm also looking to tinker with it a little.

As far as I can see the Akra slip ons are the way forward as we already have titanium pipes. They come with DB killers but they do not take the noise down that much, I had the EVO full system on the 2014 R. However, I was thinking the DB inserts they come with could be modified to tailor the noise. I looked into a spare set of DB inserts to modify and keep the originals when low and behold I came across this little Aladins cave of treasures!!

Motorcycle Exhaust End Can Muffler Baffle Silencer 48mm Ducati 1299 Panigale S 2015 in Silencers, Mufflers & Baffles | eBay

I'm willing to bet you can find a set here, as close as you're going to need and then modify a little.

I'm thinking/hoping the V4 is going to be less of a noise problem compared to the Twins. I'm not sure if I already speak with you on Facebook/uk forum Mutt but my mate had the Akra system from his 1199S on his new 1199R and even with the DB killers he really struggled to make 105dB static and it sounded like thunder at full chat on drive by! The problem with the damn dB killers is they rob you of so much power. Luckily most UK tracks are pretty short and twisty so you don't notice too much but on the bigger tracks you lose 10-15mph top end.

Most of the lads I know running various pani configurations have had problems here. A lot would seem to stem from the can outlet position, which fires the noise out sideways directly at the track noise monitors, as opposed to rearward. (Anyone else go through this with the KTM RC8? Akra made a twin silencer system similar to looks of the twin pipe GSXR).

Most of the guys have tried all of the various termi and akra underslung set ups and have still had to make custom
baffles after the original expense, which is obviously a pain, and then requires revisiting your tune maps to re optimise.

After a bit of info from inmate Tack451 (many thanks), I have sprung for the Termi underseat. It has been fitted and set up on the dyno with the supplied baffles in situ.
Now I have to wait till the track time at the beginning of next month. We did a static db test while we were doing the tuning and it gave 97-98 db at 5000 rpm so I am hoping this will be enough.

Nice enough system though is does spoil the lines of the bike a little.
You are left with a big gap underneath where the silencers were, though fitting
959 lowers or a bellypan extender are viable options. (I'm holding fire on any
more expense for that lot till I see the noise results). One pisser is if you use as a road bike,
all of the reg plate/indicator mounting is screwed and you cant get key access for the seat lock.

Will get some pics up when the bike is back together to illustrate, but half the bodywork
is still off after fitting and being at the dyno yesterday.

Numbers - I didnt have a set from my standard system so hard to compare. When we
first ran on the dyno the termi curves looked erratic and it was obvious the system would
not perform with the hybrid fuelling maps that my rapidbike evo had created.
I am waiting for my tuning pal to send me the curves but once we were done, we had just under 190 hp at the top end and the mid range was up about 10%, filling in the usual dip in the torque curve. We have only mapped with baffles for now.
Am looking forward to the mid range boost when I ride it next Thurs/Fri.

Has anyone tried to repack their silencers with e.g. aucousta-fil? I did repack my Auston Racing GP2 exhaust on my RSV4 with that and it was much quieter than with the wool pacing it came with. It is for sure not as easy to repack Panigale silencers as it was with the AR GP2.

The homologated akras are sealed and do noise reduction by multi pass chambers and baffles as far as I am aware. There is no packing to replace, and if there was you would have to cut them open and get them rewelded again.
Repacking the full race systems may be beneficial depending upon their age/use.

OK! Just thoght that I will share my experience with acousta-fil on the AR GP2 can. If/when my teri cans needs repacking I will for sure use acousta-fil again. The material expand quite much by heat so it should not be packed tight.

I've not seen a solution to this problem and although it pains me to say it I'm really hoping next years V4 is quieter.

I have an Akra full system for the 1199R that I'm buying off a friend but even with the baffles he struggles to meet the 105Db limit on noisy days and doesn't even try for the more restrictive days.

My man maths excuse for buying the BMW S1000RR for my road bike was that I could use it to get onto tracks like Spa which requires 10-15mph top speed sapping baffles on the 1199S and is probably not even possible on the 1199R in fast group and Brands Hatch that doesn't let non stock canned Panis at all even if they are the factory upgrade Termis.

With the 2015 Pani R coming with Akras is that considered stocK ??

The stock akras have the cats in them, they reduce power like the baffles do in the race akras.

Worth checking out, looks impressive , they have heatsheilds as well

Would it be worth fabricating a custom exhaust, using the headers with a collector where the muffler is now and bring one pipe up to the under tail . Wouldn't imagine it would be to difficult .
