Just curious if any of you has used the bike for commuting on a daily basis. I know the bike is meant for track workouts but just curious if anyone is using it for commuting as well.

Would like to hear some direct feedback from all owners.

I use mine for all types of riding. Comuting to work 2-3 days a week. Weekend rides through the twisties when I can. I try and do at least 3 or more track days a year. I also do the 2500km trip to Phillip Island every year.

I have only had the Pani just over a month so yet to take it to the track (booked in for the 16th of september) or the anual trip to the Island (October) but i am definitely looking forward to it!

LOL, yeah, i do everyday riding with it, mountain weekends with the wife as passenger, trackdays, trips to the Dragon in January, ...

pretty versatile superbike IMHO.

double0, he has 2 posts how should he know?

Got lucky that day. Started wit 32°F and light rain in the morning, by the time we got there the sun came out. Will pm you a video link of me tailing a buddy on his multi...

Better than riding this madhouse in summertime :D

Are you asking if its a good bike for a commuter or if its possible? Definitely possible...and fun. But if you're looking for an all-around bike that's focused on commuting and touring but can be fun for spirited rides? - Multi Pikes Peak a better choice IMO.

Reason for my question is, I'm only going to have the one bike for whatever rides. Unlike some, my wife will kick me out of the house if I keep 2 bikes. She said pick any bike but only one!
So, yes, I'm asking if it is possible to use it for an all rounder although I'm sure there are better options out there in terms of comfort, economy, etc. Reason I chose the 1199 is because I believe I can potter around town on it and yet open it up on highways and the twisties.

The Panigale is the bike you lust after, the wife said get it, so what the hell are you waiting for? Write the check before she changes her mind.

Important question: do you want your wife to ride with you ?
If yes then get the multi - I've ridden my Pani through the summer and winter, hot and cold, dry and wet, tar and gravel, long and short and it's all brought me immense pleasure EXCEPT for a 5km ride into town with my son on the slippery as .... back seat. Was misery for both of us with him sliding forward into me with every bump and throttle down. HOWEVER if it is a girlfriend on then that probably just what you want ! :D:D
(disclaimer: comfort seat is probably better)

I second what AntiHero said.
Is is the best bike for commuting?
Nope
Sure there are other bikes that will do not just better but way better.
That said the 1199 will do just fine for it and be a blast and bad ass to boot!
If you need to carry a few things throw a back pack on or get a tail bag.

Now go get that bike!

+1 to antihero's comments...

This bike is actually way more comfortable than a superbike probably should be. Get the comfort seat. I think you'll be good with it as a frequent flyer...

The only time I don't commute in with it is summer for two reasons: 1) The Florida heat/humidity are awful on the bike. And 2) It rains every dam day here around the time I'm going home.

I'll get back on it commuting regularly in about a 1 1/2 months...

I commute on mine, i have a lot of bikes, but when i open the garage to go to work in the morning 9 times out of 10 i choose the Panigale to split lanes in Los Angeles traffic.

I dont have the passenger seat or rear pegs on it so I've never carried a passenger, but for canyon carving and going to work it is the go to bike for me. I barely put 2000 miles a year on any of the other bikes.

I ride my R to work (15km each way apx. with heavy traffic) pretty much everyday except when it rains or when I have to run errands that require a car. Been doing the same since I had my Pani S even when I had the Multistrada 1200S and the Diavel Carbon Red all at the same time. The Multi and the Diavel were collecting dust, so much so that I had to jump start them whenever I felt like riding one of them.

I felt comfortable enough with the Pani to sell all my other bikes. Before the Panigale, the Diavel was my fav. Still miss the Diavel... but the Panigale wins hands down for my commutes for being the most fun. I also favor the Pani because of its svelte profile for lane splitting.

before you get the comfort seat, see if you could also try the race seat - pretty comfy, too.

+1 on the race seat. I have the race seat and it feels comfortable even for 2 hour+ rides. We usually have to gas-up because of the "low fuel" light on longer rides, every hour or so, but it's usually a quick fill then go, so we are not taking that much of a break. So, I can vouch for its comfort.

I haven't tried the comfort seat but have heard that the comfort level is about the same from people that have tried both... with the advantage of the race seat being grippier.

and not being declined towards the tank.

makes it basically a touring bike, regarding the question of the thread starter...
