Panigale R FTW!

I'd disagree with your track assessment as my experience is a bit different. People come up because they're great looking bikes and rare since most ducati probably never see a track. However, most stories are about those guys on the cheap Hondas eating the 25k ducati for lunch.

I agree with the build quality and the desire around these bikes.

This just reinforces the point the 1299 is the best bike for the street.

Yeah, inconsistent at its limit...... I ride my bike to it's limit on the street everyday, past schools, shopping malls, houses, everywhere......at it's limit.......full throttle, all day! That means it's no good on the roads, at all, ever, Really?!? Give your head a shake (see what I did there!)

Fed up of the argument to be honest, change the damn record!!!

I bought the R because it's the flagship Ducati, all their racing, all their knowledge poured into making that bike what it is and why it's so special and why I love it so much. Just a twist of the throttle on this bike, even on side stand and you know this is something else.

If I wanted a bike that was the best for the street I would buy a car........... get over it, it's not always about finesse and an easy life.

Jay, I think you just need to break down and buy the 1299 but keep the S1000RR, too :)

Based on Neil's comments, the R1M may have won with better electronics - the lap times are close

I was reading posts on this comparison over on the RSV4 forum... Amazingly they do not agree with the results. Too funny, so I stirred the pot more.

Stirring you say?

What like similar say to how the 1299 S didn't beat the standard R1 but the Panigale R beat the better equiped R1M? So it must be a far better bike right?

That kind of thing? :D

Street/track test vs track only test with an ex WSBK rider isn't the same test

Put them all on a track with Neil and THEN the story is told

Biggest knock against the S was it was "too uncomfortable on the street" but it's lap time was about 0.3 off the R1

I'm telling you chief, you would not be faster on a track vs. a 1299S - you might even be slower

I think most "average" track riders would be faster on a 1299S than a Panigale R, it's a real handful, just like the Superleggera. Someone like Neil Hodgson can extract the most from it. The rest of us can pretend that we can, but in reality we're only at OUR limit, not the bike's.

Well said.

Strangely enough, my R does commuting one day and track days the next. On the the track it is soooo much of an intimidating animal that it beat my PB of my 1098R by just under 2 secs on its first visit to the track. Maybe its faulty........................
(actually it is but that is another story:eek:).

Jeez guys, they are all great, just get out there and enjoy them ffs!
All of this my S is better than your base, and you are a fool for buying an R is getting as boring as the how to run your bike in dross.
Buy, Ride, Smile. That's all you need to know.

For me the quotes in the summary say it all like

"All three of these bikes are absolutely incredible, they're the best, of the best, of the best, you can buy for a road going superbike"

"They really are another planet"

And there's three of them, take your pick............ it's nice to have choices

Spot on. The comparison are for entertainment value only and discussion not for deciding which bike to buy . They are all awesome .

At the end of the day, it's just one man's opinion. Tomorrow, different champ, different opinion.

As much as I'd like to see Ducati be as easy and compliant as "other brands" it is what it is. I won't miss a wink of sleep cause someone in a video isn't telling me its not the easiest or best. I bought this bike for pretty much the same reason I dated crazy ....... in school......looks and performance! Yeah maybe the librarian is the smarter choice to take home, but nothing beats the night you were out with the pole dancer...lol.

Bingo. As I've said here before, in the two-wheeled marry or f@#k game, we all know what we're here for... ;)
