DUCATI 1199 PANIGALE S SENNA

Hello guys, I'm new to the Panigale, however riding ducs for many years. First bike was a 748 Senna, then moved onto a 998S FE which I just recently sold. Ready to move into a Panigale S (had briefly thought about an F4 but easily ruled it out the with recent news about MV Agusta and California sales problems.) What is ironic is my wife grew up in Milan and her family is personal friends of the Castiglioni family. However, Giovanni stated the ""The new bike is very nice, the Panigale, but it is not a Ducati. It is something completely different. No tubular frame, no exhaust, no torque. Look at Ducati's 999 - a big mistake."

In any case, I don't agree with that statement.

I was seeking opinions on the 1199 Senna S version, I haven't been able to confirm with my dealer availability in the USA. Does anybody know? If it is not coming stateside I'm going with a RED Pani S with Termi slips.

supposed to be sold in BRAZIL only. (???)

heard there might be options to get one in the states though, since they haven't all been sold down there.

regarding the statement, umm ... yeah...

I never liked the F4 senna, and I don't like the Pani Sena.
At least a part of the money for the MV went to a Senna fond, I don't know whether this applies as well to the ducati.

Repeating stuff somebody else already did is no innovation.

And saying the Pani is not a ducati (stating the reasons you mentioned) is just f**king stupid.
First Ducatis had no trellis frame, and they had ONE cylinder. So, everything else is not Ducati?

If you can get one and not pay a premium for it, why not? Be different!

But.....if it was me, I'd get the new matt black and trick it out with DP parts.

My favourite is the 999, so what would people be happy with a 916 revamped every two tears, that's stupid, you have got to change, improve innovate. Who said the S1000rr is like the old BMW's

I never liked the F4 senna

There's clearly no accounting for taste... what is not to like?!

As for the OP, I would take some combination of the advice from others here:
  1. See how much it would cost to get the 1199 S Senna shipped back from Brazil (assuming you can even pull that off)
  2. Price out your options assuming you can pick up a Stealth S and decal/paint it up in a Senna livery (including powder coating on wheels, etc)
  3. Evaluate the time/hassle and price differential between #1 and #2

Meh. The 996 Senna Edition was hot. But it's kinda weird to keep making Senna edition bikes. The older bikes are at least from the same era. If you're after a Senna bike, I'd just get a used Senna bike. Save yourself $13,000 at the same time.

It's just weird to me, to see a completely different era bike with the Senna name on it.

Wouldn't it be weird if Lamborghini came out with a "Steve McQueen Edition" Aventador and painted it like an olde school GT40???

You can't put "Henry Ford Edition" on the side of a brand new Ford Cosworth F1 engine and paint it flat black. That's kinda silly. For all we know, Henry Ford would have wet himself and passed out at the sound of an F1 engine.

I'd rather see an all red and carbon "Shuey Edition" S.

I'll never understand the "it's not a Ducati" crowd. The olde Ducatis are still available in excellent shape. Just get an old one if you want one. Can't keep making crappier bikes because that's their style. Eventually you need to make a new bike as good and ground breaking as the 916.

They keep making Senna editions to support the Senna Foundation, since a percentage of each bike sale goes there.

Steve McQueen Edition Lambo. Epic fail. Hilarious post.

The bike is gorgeous, though. Would love to see that graphite gray as part of the 2015 lineup.

Nevermind. It's just school funding for kids in Brazil.

Bring on the "Shumacher Edition".

I like the looks of the bodywork, hate red wheels.

But what is special about it?

Increase in power? Gas charged forks? Carbon Fiber bodywork and gas tank?

I hate all of the "special" or "limited" editions that are nothing more than different decals or paint.

The 2006 R1 Limited Edition...THAT was truly a special edition. Marchesini wheels, Ohlins suspension, aftermarket slipper clutch, etc.

Suzuki is the worst about doing that stupid ..... They will change some decals and/or paint, maybe add a $300 slip-on and then jack the price up $1500.

Ducati - Ducati present ?Senna? version of 1199 Panigale S exclusively in Brazil from June 2014

You're donating to the Senna foundation by buying one of these bikes.

I hate your attitude. Not everything in life is about doing school lessons..
Have some imagination for ..... sake!
