Hello Ducati lovers, I wanted to share with you one mod which I’ve made for my Panigale 959. I hope it may be interesting for you too.
Panigale isn’t the best bike for touring for sure. However, if you do all day your twisties, want to see a magic hour when the sun goes down on the peak of your mountain pass, stay at the chalet overnight and have a glass of wine celebrating your life, having a bit of luggage space for your jeans and sneakers is very useful. Backpack is absolutely not an option for me.
I was looking for the prefect bag solution for my bike very long, but haven’t found anything even close to my needs. So I made it for myself. My aim was to have about 30L of space, good aerodynamics, nice aesthetics and no impact to handling or speed characteristics.
The best suitable side bags I’ve found in the Hepco & Becker catalogue and chosen the Royster model. They have C-Bow locking system which is just great. The bags are stylish, lightweight and made for a high speed.
The carriers are welded from the carbon steel, sandblasted and powder coated in the colour matching Ducati aluminium. My goal was to make it lightweight and discreet. I used thin metal bars, trellis design and lots of engineering to make it looking as simple as possible. It’s Italian bike, I can’t mount GS frames on it.
The frame is easy to mount and easy to remove. When on the bike it looks integrable and doesn’t spoil the whole Ducati design. You can see on these pictures how it looks like with the bags and without.
I would be happy to make some bag frames for you guys too. This project took a lot of time and it was expensive, but I think if I could pick several orders and make them at once, the price would be about EUR200 (plus Hepco&Becker bags, obviously).
