Have anyone encounter clutch won't goes to "N" or shift to 1st when it's been running hot (engine is running for 1 hr at least)? It happened yesterday when I come to a stop and it got worst and couldn't get it to "N" and stuck on 2nd gear. It seems the clutch partially engage even when it was on 2 gear and the level was all the way pulled in and I had to put on the break in order to get it from moving forward. Tried to play with the lever distances but didn't help much. This is the first time it happened!

I have same issue, even after swamping to an aftermarket (EVR) clutch slave, very annoying, on a 20k+ motorcycles , so yes its your clutch line you have to bleed

If proper bleeding doesn't help, check the slave cylinder for any leaks (easy visible when removed it from the engine block). Another problem for a couple of Ducati riders is the so called "internal bleeding" error of the Brembo master cylinder. Rarely occurs, but very annoying. Changed MC under warranty and problem's gone. This problem can be identified if clutch engages more and more while keeping the clutch lever pulled. After a minute or so the the engine just stalls or you have to start driving. Very cool when waiting on a traffic light :)

They had this same issue some of the xx98 bikes. My 1198SP has the same clutch master and the same issue. Ducati life...

Thx for all inputs. Will the dealer fix it for free since it's still under warranty (bleeding the line). She only has 3400miles on her! I can bleed myself but if it's still under warranty then dealer should try to fix it

It's a 2 second job . The phone call to the dealer will take more time .

I had the slave replaced under warranty and it did not fix it. During the warmer part of the riding season I had to bleed it every 600 miles.
A little known recall CR112 (TSB-15-001) fixed it. The clutch slave piston anti-rotation insert was replaced, which can let air into the system.

Did bleed my clutch slave cylinder today and the clutch works perfectly again, good tip to bleed it once in a while.

Finally got a chance to bleed my clutch and I can see there were bubbles coming out from 1st squeeze. This is suck, it looks like there is a leak in clutch cylinder.

A friend of mine has a BMW and they just had a recall where they simply placed a sponge in the reservoir. Has anyone tried the same on the 1299?

I believe the idea is that due to the vibrations on their bike the sponge prevented the oil to bubble and prevent the need to bleed often.

An Oberon slave cylinder fixes it. They're not very expensive and maybe a five minute job.

This.

I also swaped out the bleed nipples to aftermarket ones which seen to increase lenght of time between bleeds.

Other than that swap the MC out to a RCS one and never worry again.

which aftermarket nipple did you go with?

i am not mechanically-included but i learned this trick just for this reason. now whenever i go riding, it's more fun and probably safer. when the clutch starts acting up, i can temporarily take care of it myself.

Sometimes I run into this but a throttle blip or raising the rpms up a little will help ease it into N.

I was having that problem of not being able to get the bike in N no matter how hard I'd try... I had to bleed it all the time and after 100-200 miles the problem would come back. Also, the clutch lever engagement would get shorter and shorter to the point that sometimes with the clutch fully engaged the bike would wanna move forward at a red light.

I replaced the MC with another OEM one (used from ebay from another bike with only 1,500 miles) AND also added some teflon tape to the bleeder valves (careful not to cover the hole/opening) and I dont know which one of the two mods did it for me (or maybe both) and, knock on wood, I havent had that problem any more and I can get it in neutral all the time just like butter!

Hope it helps....
