Pecco did have a wing ripped off his bike during those first two laps. Other riders have previously reported that missing a front wing can really de-stabilize the bike.
Sure, the first 2 laps he was in it. But then he gradually slid back through the field. Seems like you didn’t watch the race…
It was no NH69 podium on the last round.

In the interview with Pecco post race, he said exactly that. I think he had no idea he lost a wing. "Was the hardest race of the year, my life. Around lap 3-4 I could no longer control the front end, I don't know why, was impossible..."
Those first laps were insane! Too bad he lost that wing - would have been even more epic a race, though, maybe it was better he just had to chill to World Champion.
We were at Borgo Panigale in a few hundred, pinching diamonds, every time someone almost ran into his back tire. All 6 of them!
Yeah... I could not understand why he was mixing it up early on. Even if FQ had gone straight to the front Pecco did not need to be up there.
He was trying to force an error from FQ which may have worked to some degree. It was great to watch his first 3 laps and then he fizzled out. Granted it was the right thing to do but boring to watch. I’m more of win it (Rin it?) or bin it kind of enthusiast
SuperDomestique played piano as a kid, not a team sport.
Violin, natch. I actually wish I would’ve kept it up.
